I got in on the last group buy and I'm very happy with it. Drove the car all summer in California (about 110 was the peak this year - dry heat) and the knob was never too hot to handle. I'm not saying it was comfortable when first getting into the car by any means but, honestly, the black plastic and steering wheel get hotter than the knob IMO.

I don't think heat should deter anyone from purchasing this shift knob, it's really excellent.

This knob makes a HUGE difference in shift feel! Want the shifting process of the Z to feel smooth and normal? Get the clutch helper spring, a different clutch and THIS KNOB !!!!! It's is a big improvement over stock and most aftermarket knobs for that matter :)
