I might be interested in one of these for the multi color options.

Just one question, are you able to get the OEM lens covers? I think from a time leaving my current LED's on a little too long, the heat built up and melted some of the covers so there's a nice 'melt spot'.

I don't I'm afraid. Check on ebay. I believe these are the same on a few cars. I know my wife's Rogue has the same MAP lights as the Z.

Here is a vid in a newer Camaro. The lights are exactly the same. They only use 1 of these unlike the Z which uses 2.

Alrighty, I'll check in to some sources and see if I can get myself a new set. I'll be putting in my order soon. Would you want some install/demo shots for the thread?

JWMotoring 08-14-2012 05:49 PM

Oh yeah I could always use those. I do appreciate it.

I'm liking these because right now I have Blue LED's in, cause I like the blue, and it gets complimented a lot. But my car's theme is Black/Red (don't ask :icon17: ) And sometimes I just wanna be able to have White light when I need to read something lol.

JWMotoring 08-14-2012 06:16 PM

Yeah I've heard that a few times from my Camaro customers who are making the switch.

The white is def. the brightest of all colors based on my testing.

Do they just rest in the spot, or do they have 3M tape on the back to adhere?

JWMotoring 08-14-2012 06:56 PM

They have 3M tape. I would suggest using some additional adhesive as well. The tape can be a bit picky.

I used epoxy and it's not moving. Silicone should work and easy to remove if need be.

JWMotoring 08-14-2012 06:59 PM

3M makes an adhesion promoter that should help as well.

Just submitted my order for these, plus rear trunk light (white), and Tag lights (white) Just went to check on them and one of the tag lights will not make a solid connection to stay lit, so time for new bulbs.

Looking forward to getting these installed.

The light kit showed up today, I'll be doing the install tomorrow and will take some pics/vids for you guys.

The install on these is EXTREMELY simple. The only tools required are a very thin tipped Flathead screwdriver, and your hands.

Installation DIY:
  1. Use the screwdriver to pry out one corner of the cover plate, then pull it off the other 3 posts.
  2. Remove old bulb.
  3. Insert plug for new LEDs (Do a quick On/Off test to make sure they work)
**If they do not come on, simply unplug, flip plug, replug and do it again. These are polarity specific.
  4. Do quick cycle check of all features to confirm everything works.
  5. Peel off 3M adhesive cover paper, Press to inside of cavity for 30 seconds with decent pressure.
  6. Tuck wires.
  7. Replace Cover plates.
  8. Enjoy.

I can tell you I previously had a 12 LED chip in there, and with now only having the 6 LED pod, it is WAY brighter. 9 of these LED's would just be ridiculous. :bowrofl:
