10,000km service but what was done?
I just got my 10k service and on the sheet all they really did besides checks was an oil change.
Is my car meant to get to the 20,000km (next service) with only an oil change and a few checks? I got this service free as part of my agreement when I bought the car. I hope they didn't just do a part service cause it was free... Anyone else got their 10k service done yet? Feedback would be great. |
I think that's all they do mate. Services aren't really much dude, but if you are worried, check out the service booklet that came with your cars manual it states what gets done in there. The main thing is the oil change though.

I just had my 10K service and they changed the oil but that's about it. Must admit though the auto shifts a bit smoother now. cost me $244 Doh should have got them to throw it in as well.

I haven't seen your car around. You seen mine? You up for the next Melb cruise? Probably on gTRFan's dyno day. |

It's like an excursion each week! Already nearly 12,000km already :( |

I have noticed though that after the 10,000k service my economy has improved from 10.1L/100 to 9.8L/100 |
I'm getting mine done today @ 9000km which is a bit early but I wont have time closer to xmas.
I'll let you know what it says on the invoice. Just for useless info, this is the complaints list i gave them. Did you guys have anything to report at 10k?
|
This is what they did -
Changed engine oil, filter and washer Checked all fluids Reset ECU, clear self learn Remove wheels, inspect brakes and readjust Check steering and readjust Check operation of all lights Check operation of windscreen wipers - haha Road test They did use Nissan synthetic 5W-30 as spec and said the mobil 1 stickers on the windscreen are just surplus. haha Their findings 1. Idle smooth with reset 2. Gearbox normal. I'll replace it with Redline myself. 3. Thrust bearing IS noisy on these cars 4. Rattle didn't occur 5. No updates available $251.80 for sweet fark all |
Lol and from that list they probably only checked wiper function lol

havent got to 10000km yet but will be interesting to see how much Brighton Nissan charge for it since it is the closest one. next one is oakleigh. may i should ring and ask around :)

I've got only 4k left to my 20k service :(
Anyone know how much or what they (don't) do at 20k? |
I haven't done my 10,000 km service, but I was told when I booked my last service that most of them cost the same. Our big service is 100,000 km and that one costs about $500.

Its a lot of $ for what they actually do. Two of these a year and its >$10 a week cash drip feed for the dealer.
Nissan Ryde Sydney want around $350 for it. Why do NSW/Sydney ppl always seem to get ripped off compared to other states. Gotta do something about that "sucka" look written all over my face. lol. I drive a lot under harsh conditions as per pp M72 of the Customer Information Booklet, - thats my story and I'm sticking to it - at least they then have to check more things, replace a few more filters and lubricate hinges etc. I could teach my grandma to do this AND I'd get milk and cookies thrown in! pics from ther main. manual are a little blurry, but I've had a few beers and everything looks a little blurry at the moment... I heard that Melbourne is the fastest growing city in Oz again for 2009? Going by the morning traffic, I'd have to agree as there just seems to be more and more cars on the road. An average 3bed house in my street sold for 940k last weekend. Mental. Sorry to run off topic |
my wife just got her 07 Murano 40000km service and it costed her over 500 at brighton Nissan. Doubt i will bring my 370z there as i dont think it will be under $350 for 10000km service.

As little as possible, while charging you as much as possible! That's why they're called "stealerships"! Cheers.

A mate had a Nissan navara serviced at Brighton and it came back with a deep scratch to bare metal allong the door. It was a black car so it stood out easily. He mentioned it at the pickup and they denied all responsibility. He had to escalate it to the manager of the whole dealer to get it resolved and repaired. Nightmare. |
Thats woeful, nobody expects life to be perfect, accidents do occur, but to deny it is very poor form. Shame on them.
I'm happy to say that there are some good guys out there and when you find them you stick to them like glue. Its true for all business - you want repeat business? then act honourably and cop it on the chin when you have to. suck it in. All the years I had my old Mazda RX7 serviced, maintained, tweaked, by Ric Shaw Rotary, I have nothing but praise for Ric's integrity and professionalism. Talking about scratches, once, they called me while my car was in for some work about a deep scratch they spotted on the front left fender that seemed to match up with the green colour of a workshop feature and they went out of their way to ring me and ask if I already knew about it. As it turned out the scratch happened a week earlier at a shopping mall and I knew of it and said as much, but I could have easily said otherwise and they would have assumed it was one of their apprentices or whatever. I have had my Zed since 15-May, hit 10K klicks in early Nov. Usual stuff checked, cost $244.
I always change oil/filter myself at 5000kms and do a basic service/safety check @ same time (pull wheels off, check bearings and brake pads) and check fluids every fortnight. Have 13,000 klicks up now and engine running sweetly and gearbox shift quality finally settling down - drive to city and back to Kangaroo Ground each day, averaging 9.8 litred per hundred. Have sourced an oil cooler and ready to fit this weekend, as oil temps hit 135 degrees C after less than 4 laps of Sandown late in Oct - pita really ... have also replaced OEM front rotors with 2-piece motorsport rotors (made my own hats to fit them). The OEM brakes work quite well with decent pads (Endless) and have fitted KU36 tyres as a compromise over the Advan Sports the car came with - not the best tyre out there, but sorta-sticky with the added benefit of having the right load index. Has anyone turned laps at Sandown yet ?? What lap times represent a bog-stock car - any feedback ?? |

When I owned the 350Z and took it in for the checkup the dealer wanted to charge $250 for the service. I reviewed the service items before I OK'd it. What got me was they recommended that since the $250 service includes a fuel system flush that I should get the throttle body cleaning as well. I asked how much that would cost. That charge was to be and added $180. I went to the service manager and told him that I know exactly what a throttle body cleaning entails and asked why it cost so much for something that amounts to nothing more than swabbing a Q-tip with carbon-tetrachloride around the internal wall of the throttle body. I told him that even the fast-lube places do both the flush and the swabbing for about $75.00. He said "Because there are two of them in a Z". I said even given that $90 / throttle body was alot of money for alot of nothing more than removing the hose off the throttle body and doing a 2 minute swab and with no fuel system flush.
I went livid and raked their asses over the coals for the kind of price gouging they were doing. The guy eventually threw in the throttle body cleaning for free. I ended up getting the fuel system flush, oil changed with synthetic and the throttle bodies swabbed plus the regular checks for $190.00. And even that was about $90.00 too much. I can't even fathom how these dealerships can look their customers in the eyes with all this kind of high-balling rubbish that goes on. You know I know for a fact that alot of people here do not patronize the quick shops like Jiffy or Pep Boys. But I have to say that I took my shelby Mustang and Terminator all the time to these "quick" kind of places. If you stand there and talk to these quick service mechanics about appreciating their care for such kinds of cars you would be surprised how they will go out of their way to treat the cars with care, respect and are happy to service them since its a rarity for them to see such cars on a regular basis. And it costs about 1/3 less of what the dealer service whores charge for the same services. |
According to my service manual i only get my first service at 15000km's?????? It doesnt say anything about bringing it in for an oil change before then and wen i fetched the car they never said anything to me???

The only thing my dealership will do is warranty work. The rest will be done by myself with my floor jack, jack stands, and a bottle of cold beer. All that 'service' money will then be funneled into more fun avenues such as mods and track days. I don't need to pay some boner $200 to change my oil and lubricate my door hinges...that didn't sound right.
