Wet Windows
Hey guys just wondering if you get this as well...
When you wind down the windows then put them back up again, do you get water on the outside of the window, even a day or 2 after it has rained?? Last night i wound them back up and the passenger window was completely wet and made almost a scraping noise when coming up the drivers side was wet too - the car hadn't been in the rain for days... I've never had a car do this before, it's like the seals on the outside aren't working... |
mine does that for up to 2 days after i wash it...
my mustang did the same thing... |
hmmm thats weird, my 350 never did that... ah wells, at least mine aint a freak car then..
|
I haven't noticed that on mine at the moment. We had some major rain the other day and nothing seemed out of the ordinary to me. Although i will take good notice next time i wash the car or it rains again.
|
Yep, mine does this exactly. I am going to raise it with the service manager as I did with the spring lift on the rear hatch. He just called and said my new springs are in...free of course. ;)

My 350Z had that issue with the rear hatch release but the 370Z doesn't seem to have it. Maybe it'll appear later on.
I've got wet windows too, and had that in the 350Z. Both my window motors were replaced in the 350Z which made me think that some seal wasn't right after the mechanics were in there messing about, but it might be normal enough. |
My Silvia S15 had the wet window problem and it was never an issue for the 7 years I had it. I believe its caused by a felt guide that presses up against the widow to stop it from rattling.
|
Noticed the same thing on mine. Just got my Z about 10 days ago. It's been raining like hell in South Florida. Rolled my window down the day after having it out in the rain & it came up wet. Never had a car do this before.

This is a bit of a worry for all you 370Z owners - this moisture within the door cavity will cause havoc with electrics and it may even cause rust in non-Aluminium parts. I think door skin is aluminium, but the frame is still steel. Hope it gets addressed by Nissan asap. |
i washed my car the other day
i didnt have that issue. although after i washed it, i parked it outside for a fair while |

How difficult was it to advise them of the issue? |
My windows will do this for a few hours after a wash but then it dries up nicely.

He looked it up and it is NOT AN AUSTRALIAN part. If I want it, it will cost me $60AUD each. The dealer was happy to look into it for me. He asked me to contact Nissan Customer Service to see their view. I contacted Australia Nissan Customer Service and spoke to some arrogant person who did not want to know about it. The fella was an absoultely useless moron and it makes me sick [B] He said, Nissan warrant certain parts, and this spring lift is not standard on Australian cars. If I want that part, it will be at my cost. However GTRFAN got the longer springs. Will be interesting to see how he got it? I subsequently contacted my servicing dealer and he will start a Techline and speak to Nissan Warranty. Above all, the servicing dealer was excellent and thoroughly recommend Highway Nissan for people in Brisbane Australia. |
I havn't picked them up yet, but he did ring to say they were in. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Windows - I noticed a line running vertically down my left window today and under further inspection it's scratched. I showed the dealer and they said they will have to take the door trim appart and see whats causing it and then replace the glass. Pain in the *** as I want to get tint now...not later.
Hatch issue - I picked up my replacement hatch springs today. Works perfectly now! I got them free under warranty. The service manager said there is an official bulletin coming out for the 370z soon for this issue so it was easy for him to get the part approved. |
Hi GTRFan. Pls lemme know if u find out when it's officially on a bulletin. Til then my service centre just keeps lubeing it up..
|
Mine has the same issue so I try not roll down the widows for a day till the water evaporates from the rubber window scraper.

Anyway, I will keep waiting... Highway Nissan were excellent. Great service. I havent driven my Z since 8/9 when I washed and waxed it with Bowdens stuff. Looks too nice to get dirty!!! |
Hey Darren,
I didn't see this one before not sure if you've seen it: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...t-defects.html |

My paint defect is not a big deal as it's hard to see so I think I'll just leave it. I have shown the dealer and the have it on record with photos, so I am covered if I want to claim it. |

Spoke to the service manager again today about my scratched window. I am dropping it off on Monday so they can pull the trim off and see whats going on, fix it and justify replacement glass under warranty. He said if I had installed tint, it would not have been covered! Once it's sorted I'll tint though.
Wet windows - His response was this. The felt lining along the edge of the seal is designed to catch water, so until it evaporates it will leave wet streaks on the glass if you wind it up and down. Normal. |
