Oil temp issues - USA issue only??
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...mp-issues.html
In the general 370Z forum, it appears our friends in the USA have oil issues with the Z and option 'oil cooler' for $500. They say - it reaches around 300 degrees farenheit which equates to 148.89 degrees celcius. In my 1,800 kms so far, I have not had any heat issues. The hottest my oil has gotten has been 98 degrees celcius. Anyone is AUS have oil issues? |
They are all the same, but I can't imagine this being an issue unless you're cruising at 5000rpm all day long. I guess we'll get a better understanding of it in summer though. Should be all good either way.

:iagree:
I tried to push my car for about 10mins..., always rev it up above 5krpm all the time..., then I saw the oil temp climb to 120 celcius. Remember this is in winter..., I believed in summer it would easily climb to 140-150 celcius..!!! |
Be interesting up and down mountain roads in summer using engine breaking.

I have pushed mine pretty hard and see temps of 110deg while the outside air was only 10deg.
I mentioned this to the service manager and he said it's perfectly normal and will only be an issue once it gets over 140deg. I think summer will be a real problem as we (Aus) get temps in the 40's all the time. It all sounds a bit dodgy to me but what do we do? All I can do is change the oil every 5000k and look into a oil cooler. |

Don't forget, when summer does come and we decide to test the oil temps, I bet most ppl will be thrashing their cars to get high temps... doing this in most cars during hot weather will have the same effect - but the argument is that this is a sports car designed for this sort of driving and should be able to handle the temps..... (unless of course the temps rise without driving hard... then we have a problem) |
A summer meet up would be a good idea to test together. Would be funny if they all went into limp mode... actually no it wouldn't.
