Insurance

Hey guys, who is everyone insured with and how much do they pay?

I just rang Shannons and they wanted $1856 but at least they allow modification. Just cars wanted a few hundred less but they also have a $1000 vehicle excess above the standard $500 excess :(

not sure who else to try... AAMI is cheap but you can't take it to your chosen repairer, only theirs...

I think I may have to fork out the extra cash to go Shannons (because of the exhaust and what not that I want to buy...)

I just went Just Cars and chose higher access with lower yearly. I figure there's more chance of the accident being abother's fault. I pay $920 per annum. Agreed value $76,990. Inc mods. Even my 22 yr old wife drives it with only a $550 age access.

GTRFAN 08-16-2009 10:05 PM

Hey Majestik thats a good deal. They are a great company and I have always used them in the past.

I was going to use JustCars but in the end I went with RACV as I have my home and contents insurance with them and get a discount for muli policy. They have also changed their policy on modifications which now is "any mods are ok and do not need to be disclosed as long as they are legal".

I got complete care, unlimited hire car, accommodation, rating 1 protection, etc, $72,000 agreed for $1200

Good protection and hassle free service, but not the cheapest deal.

I had a P plater dickhead recently run into me and totally write off a car. I was left with no car while I waited for this Z which was a real hassle, so I opted for complete care this time.

Majestik 08-16-2009 10:21 PM

That's pretty good with the loan car AND accomodation! I think I'll look around next year cause I won't have my convertible as a spare car anymore :(

evse82 08-16-2009 10:47 PM

Hmm well I checked RACV and they were the cheapest, I also noticed modifications were listed as being ok.. It looks likt I may go with RACV because It was similarly priced for me (minus the accom and hire car) I don't have anything else under RACV so I won't get any other discounts. Thanks for the info guys!

Majestik 08-17-2009 12:43 AM

I was just checking AAMI and it gave me a quote of $670 per annum + $70 for loan car and windscreen. Excess is $2100ish.

jekel 08-17-2009 03:47 AM

got quoted about 1200 from aami 500 excess i think.......rating 3

evse82 08-18-2009 07:03 AM

Well I ended up locking in RACV, got it at agreed value of 77k and its I think $1220 with a $550 excess. I made it 77k cos I told them I'd get an exhaust and a few other mods which would bump up the price.

I love their stance on mods now!! - "If vicroads says it's legal, we don't mind" Thats so good considering a few years ago most insurance companies refused insuring you if you polished your exhaust tip too much lol

Yeah, how good is that! The girl on the phone said RACV changed this policy because they were loosing too many customers to Just Car insurance.

raj370z 08-21-2009 04:13 AM

I'm with NRMA and I'm paying ~$2200.

Majestik 08-25-2009 07:01 AM

I cancelled with Just Cars today and went with RACV Complete Car Insurance. Insured agreed value $77,990 with the works (like GtrFan), Rating 1 for life. $1225 annual/$550 excess.

Yeah RACV seems to be the best so far.... no one else comes close with the premium and excess

jekel 08-25-2009 08:04 AM

hhmm must be where you guys live.......i ended up going with aami quoted rating 1 $1980 something like that.......with rating 1 protection, get rating 1 for life next year if no claim. Cover cheap rental if something happens.......maybe high for me because of ages/living in footscray?.......checked racv they would only gimme rating 2 and cheapest was 2200....

Yeah dude, it's because we are old and over the hill :( lol It really depends on age more than location. We get rating one because ratings work on driving experience. I think after 5 years of driving experience you become rating 1 instantly. It jus worked out really well with RACV, everyone I told was shocked to hear they were the cheapest (they must have been struggling I guess) the allowable mod thing is also a HUGE plus.

09370z 08-25-2009 05:49 PM

I have insurance through Geico and pay $97/month.

bezzita 08-25-2009 05:50 PM

I paid $1500pa with RACV with $550 axcess.... agreed value of $76,000, it should have been around $900 because I put a claim this year.

mlambie 09-01-2009 08:02 AM

RAC (WA) want to charge me $1700/yr and my business partner $1500/yr. He's keeping his in a garage and mine will be in a driveway. It's a $350 excess for both of us. In both cases it's agreed value of $76k.

Interestingly, the insurance covers anyone else driving the car too, so long as it is with my knowledge/permission and they have a "clean" driving record.

My 350Z just came up for renewel with Just Car and that's $1200/yr, though obviously I won't be needing it.

Mr Ed 09-04-2009 03:57 AM

I use AAMI - $750 pa with windscreen cover.

I am 32 and my girl is 28.

They have included all my accessories and mags (Enkei rims $5500) in cover.

370er 09-04-2009 10:14 AM

Mr Ed, how much excess?

Mr Ed 09-04-2009 04:36 PM

standard excess of $500 only

there is no additional excess like my old WRX....

oz370 09-08-2009 06:17 AM

Guys - NRMA Insurance is the best i could find $1320 per annum with a $600 basic excess

Indy 09-08-2009 04:11 PM

$2,300 pa with RACV and an excess of $500... Yay:(
