Hey James.

As i have posted before i have had a Rev Camera installed. As we know it's not an option on Spec cars, but i think someone else was looking into the G series Cameras to see if they would work.

Mine got done as a Dealer option and was installed by GCC. Below are some pics of the install and view you get from it. Any other ? just ask mate. I also have a few more pics in my gallery.

James, off the top of my head it was Slacks Creek. My dealer said it was George who did it and is meant to be a Guru (his words LOL). As for cost i'll check the Sales Receipt again (or another thread) as it was part of the deal when i bought the car.

Irishboy, i'm sure any decent Car Install place could do it for you. Not knowing your area i couldn't say who could.

James, mine is being installed by the dealer. I gave him the details that Scott gave me. I can't recall the cost but you should get the proper IPOD install at the same time. Aftermarket installs for both items are around the $1700.00 to $1900.00 from reputable suppliers in SE QLd from what I could find at the time last month.

Hey Clint, Thanks for the info. That does seem expensive for the ipod connection. Are you able to view the track list and use the controls on the steering wheel etc to browse through tracks? Or do you have to use the ipod to control it all still? It drives me nuts at the moment having to open up the centre console all the time to scroll through tracks. Bloody dangerous too !

Are their two additional inputs in the stock head unit for the stereo? One for the Reverse Cam and another for the Ipod?

Thanks !

James

No idea about controls off the steering wheel i don't get my car for another 2-3 weeks, maybe Scott can answer that, ill wait and see once its installed. That price was with the reverse cam and ipod mod.

I'm not sure how GCCS have connected the two inputs. The Rev Camera works on the Aux input and so does the iPod/iPhone connector. Although if your listening to some Music on the iPod and you start to Reverse the Camera shows on the screen but it dosnt cut the music (hope that makes sense).

There is no Standard iPod connector in Aus spec cars. Yes we have the AV Inputs for various type players, but no control ability. Also to answer CJ's ? below as well (sry mate for not ans' earlier), at this stage i haven't been able to control it through the steering wheel.

I havnt had a chance to see George at GCCS to see if there is some kind of work around on this. The US Spec cars as far as i know have FULL control over their iPods.

Now for showing Data on the screen, it dosnt show track info. There has to be a way around this. You have full Video playback on the screen, so maybe it's something to do with the Connector i'm using. I have only used my iPhone 16gig 3G and iPod 80gig 5.5gen.

It sounds like the only additional functionality that you get from hard wiring the Ipod connection is that it charges the Ipod.

I have a a chord that plugs into the base of my Ipod and at the other end has the red, white and yellow AV cables and seems to have the same functionality as the GCCS hard wired set up other than charging the Ipod. The chord only cost $30 though !

I would only really be interested in hard wiring if there is a work around to be able to control the ipod from dash / steering wheel controls.

The reverse camera still sounds worthwhile though. Will get a price for just reverse camera from slacks creek on Monday.

Thanks for the info.

I will try and find out some info on attaining play list control functionality and let you know what I find out.
