Got the Z!
I just picked up the car from the dealer!
OMG this car is amazing and is so worth the wait! The Titanium Gray is stunning in real life. For some reason all the pics on the internet have an off colour tinge to them compared to real life. I think it's just how the camera processes the white balance. I don't have a decent camera at the moment, but I did manage to snap some low res shots with my video camera. The colour in the pics is still off but you get the idea. Chem em out! I'm excited! Darren |

Hey hey, Congrats Darren
That Titanium does look good Awesome plates I've re-assessed the situation, and i think i'll keep my generic plates at the moment. And I'm with you with the wheels too, only problem is, considering that I only drive about 1000km a month at most, it'll be awhile b4 I upgrade to 19's. Enjoy the car. And STU, hang in there bro, I'm excited for you too... can't wait to have our SA cruise

Hey GTRFAN, it is so good to hear that you now have your car mate. I can certainly understand how happy you must be just to have that first drive home LOL.
For the first few days (even now still) i just want to go drive the thing. It's so comfortable and the performance is great. Be safe and enjoy the hell out of it champ. Oh the plates rock as well, great effort. Damn 370er, didnt realise your date has gone out that much, sorry to see that.

thanks guys
I have been driving all day and have put a few hundred k's on the clock. Dam this break-in period is tough though. Shifting at 4k is soooo frustrating. How did you guys go with this? The handbook says not to exceed 4k for the first 2000km. The overall driving experience has been impressive. I have taken it up through the twisties and on a lot of different roads to get a feel for it. I really like how it makes torque low in the rev range and how drivable it is at different loads and speed. Impressive. The stock handling is good, although it sits an inch too high which induces a bit of roll, but it's a quality stock setup. The sports brakes are insane! I can't fault them at all. SRM is a nice touch and works well. The 18" wheels are just too small and narrow. The tyres fitted are Yokohama Advan Sports in 225/50/18 and 245/45/18 which is just stupid for a car like this. Everyone that has seen my car has commented on the wheels and tyres as the only criticism. What were Nissan Australia thinking? I mean they ordered the one model which is basically the fully optioned Japanese spec, except they go for the POS wheels. Upgrade is a must. Nissan AU = Epic fail. I don't really have an issue with visibility and the blind spots, although you do have to rely on your mirrors. But if you set them up properly I find that it's easy to cover the blind spot areas pretty well. I have the drivers mirror fully wide and naturally sit quite far back and it seems to work. The little side window on the drivers side is totally useless. Reversing is not too bad, but a reversing camera is definitely on my shopping list. Have you noticed the auto window glass when you open and close the doors? (the glass lowers 1cm when opening and rises when closed to form a better seal) That's a classic touch that I have only seen on much higher $ cars. The NAV works well and the headlight washers are a pissa! more tomorrow... |

Darren buddy, been breaking in period means don't drive the engine too hard. I do occasionally rev the engine to about 6000rpm, but suggest not too often. I reckon if you follow the manual word-for-word, there'll lots that we'll be missing out on.
I personally don't think the wheels are too bad. Yes, they don't give the 'aggro' stance that should come with the rest of the car, but grip vs road noise point of view, Yoko Advans are not too bad. But I do agree, when a change is due, will upgrade to 19's. Did anyone else have more road noise with Bridgestone Potenzas, or izzit just me(previous RX8 had Bridgestones)?? The door windows was a feature in the 350z too, if I remembered correctly. When I sent my car for window tinting, the dude advised to avoid rolling down the windows for 24-48hrs. I was like, "Have you seen the door windows?" Have fun with the car, Darren
