No worries there on the SRM - there is a lot of acronyms to learn Yes tunnel and under ground parking hunting is a fun new game with the exhaust system. The Stillen sounds fantastic and the HFC gives it more growl. Tame when the throttle is light and it sounds fantastic when you romp on it. Almost an exotic note....
Grounding kit - the engine is mostly isolated from the chasis for obvious reasons. This doesn't make it the best path for electricity and in particular the sensors on the engine so the grounding kit improves the grounding path for those sensors by adding additional grounding points from the engine to the chasis. Helps the sensors to send the best/cleanest/most accurate info to the ECU which in theory will optimize the power/efficiencey of the engine.

Hey guys,
I'm ready when you guys are to order the parts. I am happy to pass on my funds to you evse82 if your placing the order and have to pay in one sum. Lets just meet first. On the topic of cash, are you sure we can't get a discount as we are buying three sets? Ask them and see what they say. More news....and way more interesting too.....my dealer just received a Titanium 6sp Z last night that was meant to be the showroom car, but he said he can swap the cars around and I can have it now. Sweet! So next week it's on the road! Oh yeah. |

I am in for the buy, but my problem is my funds are coming from the TAX man. So it would be a few weeks before that comes in. I agree with GTRFAN, maybe we could get a better discount as we are buying a few sets. Also as i think some of us are looking into HFC's also, it could be worth looking into the Stillen's and maybe even get a bigger discount... +Rep for evse82, for getting the ground work started on this for us.

My Stillen HFC's have been fantastic. The Berks have been around longer.... I like having parts from all the same company if they are comparable....

yeah well we can organise a bigger deal, I was just thinkiing of going the berk cats because they are legal in America (except for California), which means they would most likely be legal here, the stillen ones are marked off road use only so I doubt they'll pass here.
Once we get everything finalised i'll send a final list of products we want to buy and ask for a better price. should be all good I'm ready to go for the exhaust anyways, i think i'll be swapping the intakes for the cats though |

Hey guys,
Not sure if any of you have been checking out the Intake/Exhuast thread at all. I have noticed the Fast Intentions Cat Back/HFC's/Test Pipes. You have the sale thread HERE and the Exhaust thread HERE. I personally quite like this exhaust. It has a great sound and there are some nice Config options for it also. Going to email them and see what shipping is to Aus. Just thought this was another good option to check out. BTW I am not trying to undo the work that evse82 has already done. I just noticed that thread and listened to the Videos and loved it. With similar power gains for me it's coming down to sound. Also price will have an impact as well.

I would be interested, however I would probably want to wait till the engine was completly broken in. Just so i could compare the difference
Also what is the expected increase in power for the G3's and the CBE. Are there not any distributers in Australia for Stillen? |

Fast Intentions CBE might be the way to go. Correct me if im wrong but from what i've read on this forum is that the Stillen knocks on the underside of the car and some people have had to bend the exhaust into shape to not rattle.
When your paying 70k for a car and go purchase a setup that doesn't fit correctly seems abit off, certainly when there are so many other CBE options out there. |

Hey there Ellz, from what I have read through those threads, is that the earlier Stillen CBE's, some not all (Pre April/May I think) were touching towards the back end, cant remember the part that it touches.
Since then they have meant to have made some adjustment to the exhaust and it's not touching anymore. Some were very happy and some weren't.

Just watched the Fast Intentions clips. I must say the exhaust does sound beefy. However did sound a little loud in the cabin and the rear mufflers look a bit too bling for me.
Im after something sporty/tough without any drone at all. The fast intentions got an increase of 20rwhp or 14.8rwkw and increase of 12 Torque The Stillen CBE looks like an increase of 18whp or 13.3rwkw and increase of 15 Torque The Stillen G3's get 17.5 rwhp and 7 Torque (however dyno figures with bumper on are much lower like 10rwhp or 6rwkw) So not sure if the cost of the G3's if worth the extra 6 or so kw. Looks like with either exhaust and the G3 looking at increase of 19.3/ 20.8 rwkw (this is with the 6kw increase from G3 only) Last edited by AH370Z; 07-26-2009 at 11:36 PM. |
