Where do we all live? Thinking about cruise / meets

Hey all,

Just a quick poll to see where we all live so we can plan cruises / meets in the future.

A lot of us have cars on order but we may as well get things started.

So, where do you live?

evse82 07-01-2009 07:58 AM

Looks like there'll be some nice future cruises in Melbourne :P

GTRFAN 07-01-2009 11:28 PM

Melbourne meet for sure guys....maybe in August when we all actually have our cars. This waiting game is really tough... :(

Hey rudi how's it going?

I didn't expect anyone to select that option. :)

Where do you live?

MrBMW 07-02-2009 01:51 AM

Hi guys. On the basis of this forum Melbourne could a great place to be (for cruises at least:stirthepot:).

Myself i am in Brisbane about 20mins south of the CBD or 35mins north of the Gold Coast. There are some great drives up here from fairly standard flat cruisy blasts. Right up to some challenging mountain runs.

Say Mt Nebo/Glorious up to Wivenhoe dam. Even the run through Mt Tamborine, from GC to Brissie or vice versa. Hopefully Ellz will be up for it.

Also would love to go for a drive around Tassie and Adelaide/SA.

When you look at carslaes.com.au it appears QLD has one the larger amounts of 370's for sale.

irishboy 07-03-2009 12:49 AM

I'll just have to cruise round myself by the looks of things lol... If I ever get the car!!!

ordered 13 June - no idea of delivery date...

CJ2151 07-03-2009 06:34 PM

Guys, Brisbane here. This is one of many Nissans for me. Look forward to getting together for a cruise when the cars arrive. Mine is like most of you August / September for Delivery. I have been on order for a while as I wouldn't budge on colour. Got the white manual coming. If anybody knows of the 19's to offload PM me. I WANT! look forward to organising a cruise SE QLD.

rudi 07-03-2009 10:52 PM

Looks like I'm the only country bumpkin

Hi all, I'm in Albury Wodonga located on the Vic NSW border makes me reasonably central. As yet I haven't seen another 370 on the road other than mine. This is my 3rd Z.

Rudi.

evse82 07-04-2009 12:47 AM

Well I finally ordered mine today, I got the black manual, hopefully it'll come in early to mid August.... Then we can start organising the Melbourne Cruises... that all you bums in other states can come to :P (ur all invited lol)

Its gonna be one slow cruise though.... everyone will still be running in their engines.....

Sorry to hear you have to wait so long irishboy. I got the ok from Wife to look at cars and could've picked up the car the next day if the bank hadn't have stuffed around. So I had to wait an OH so long 1 week:p(sry).

Welcome CJ'. Would be great to get a few of us together soon for a drive somewhere. Maybe when a few of the others have gotten their cars we could organise something Even before then would be cool and they could just drool:stirthepot: over ours. As for the 19's unless you Import from Japan or US it isn't going to happen ATM.

Even driving through Peak Hour here in brissie I havnt seen another 370 yet. It's such a great feeling to know you are one of the first to have the car. Also to know that it's not going to be millions of them like Falcodres (no offense meant).

About time evse' that you got onto it LOL. I bet you cant wait to get your hands on it. I would definitely be up for a Melb cruise one day and add it in as a Holiday or something.

As for the run-in bit. As it's been talked to death in the main section on what should/shouldn't be done all I can say is enjoy it. What ever someone else does its up to them.

evse82 07-04-2009 10:05 PM

lol thanks, yeah I took my time getting it but lucky I got in on the next shipment.

It's gonna feel like the longest month....... Ah wells

LOL thats awesome, where is it? maybe we could do it together haha.

I just thought of driving down to st kilda and back every night...

I did see one person in a white one cruising up and back the same 3 streets for about an hour, I figured he was running it in too... I was so excited seeing it... everyone with me were saying - look at him doing laps, I said, yeah that'll be me as well running it in... only I'll be doing it for 4 hours every night lol

we gotta catch up to indy :P

haha Yeah we'll do a "slow super cruise" every night. I was thinking more like eastern suburbs to Mt Dandenong, over the top and around the back to Silvan and then back around to the burbs. That way it's about a 100km round trip that will vary the rpm's and engine load quite a lot.

Not sure about cutting laps of Chapel and St Kilda!!! :driving: haha

Where do you live again? I am in Hughesdale/Oakleigh area. Im keen :)

evse82 07-06-2009 03:54 AM

Yeah thats awesome dude, I'm in Doncaster and totally up for it man, I'm sure we'll both just wanna drive the car no matter where we go.

Not fussed at all where we go, I was just thinking st kilda cos it was a nice varied run in via freeway hoddle etc, and I always used to take my 350 down there for a drive.....

Now we just have to play the waiting game haha.

when was ur estimated delivery again?

GTRFAN 07-06-2009 06:44 AM

He said early August for mine...but who knows.

When talking about the delivery date the dealers always break the news gently by lying. :)

"I'll have it here in a few weeks....well maybe by the end of July....at the very latest, August. Yeah it'll be August." ;)

Yeah I'm not holding my breath. He said it depends on when the ship gets here so it could be anytime lol

Hopefully they come early August. I gotta start buying bits and pieces for it now though....

Lets do a group buy... Im going to start with an exhaust, intakes and maybe some lowered springs. I am going to wait a while before upgrading the stock 18" rims.

All good mate. I would go with a 2nd choice personally. It's something that most people will keep for at;east a few years, so IMHO you should really only get the Colour that you REALLY want.

I'm starting to think myself about some basic bits and pieces. Main thing for me would most likely be Cat/Back Exhaust first. Mainly to open the sound up a bit more. I love extra OOMPH some of the sets are getting.

Hopefully your car is sooner rather than later.

As above, I agree. I'm leaving the handling side of things alone till I do some track/hill climb runs, mainly to make sure that I will see a benefit (time wise) in going aftermarket. As for rims, I'm staying with 18's and probably just go a Nice Light aftermarket set.

evse82 07-06-2009 10:42 PM

Yep exhaust is Number 1 for sure. Still waiting on a shipping price for group buy and I'll let u know when I find out.

I'll be keeping the stock rims for a while too. I already have an amp and subs that I had in my 350 so all set with system too just gotta work out the wiring in the boot on the 370.

That would be great if you can get an idea of price for a group buy. If I may ask, what system are looking at for a group buy (maybe we should start a separate thread for that?).

I cant imagine the wiring would be that difficult. I assume the wiring diagram would be in the Service manual that can be found on the website.

evse82 07-06-2009 11:47 PM

Well I've been after the stillen cat back and the stillen g3 intakes, they get pretty pricey for delivery.... so I'll see what they can get back to me with.

I also emailed Hitech mufflers to see if they were making one anytime soon but didn't get a reply so i doubt it. I had their exhaust on the 350 which had a really nice sound.

I'm just trying to sort out the wiring going into the stock sub location. The amp for the subs is actually in the black container with the subs and I think from memory there were 6 wires leading in the, so i need to suss out the trigger, and inputs etc... i'll have a look at the service manual though... hopefully its in there

I must say thats pretty much exactly what i have been thinking of myself. Shipping would be a killer unfortunately for us here in Aus. Then working out where to ship to etc... (on a group buy basis).

As for the stereo, i will be doing something eventually. I have had thought about possibly going with some shallow Subs in a box made for the space between the rear strut and wheel arches (i think thats right), then you still have space left for shopping (LOL) and the Baby latch is still accessible. Pic below should explain what i mean.

evse82 07-07-2009 12:39 AM

Yeah well thats what i had done in my 350, I had gotten in an under strut bar box from america which housed 2 10" subs and i had the amp hidden behind the passenger seat in the compartment. I was really happy with that setup... until the 370 came out lol

I emailed zenclosures about the box but i got a wacky price back for shipping, he said like $550 just delivery, he may just not be interested in overseas shipping, as the box i got for the 350, cost me only about $75 and it was the same size if not bigger.

Its a real bummer too because zenclosures have a nice upward firing box for the 370 which could mount an amp facing the hatch... would be perfect :(

GTRFAN 07-07-2009 02:43 AM

How does the stock BOSE system sound? I never tested it on the test drive but saw the little sub inside the spare wheel.

If you go an aftermarket box, amp and 10-12" sub that will add a lot of weight over the rear... Is it worth it?

Darren waits to be told "You can never have enough bass!" :)

just my 2c

2nd that! :iagree:

The engine note is free and light weight too!

evse82 07-07-2009 05:07 AM

lol yeah engine note is nice, but bass is better :p

The bose system is pretty good, i pumped it a bit when i was test driving it. All it needs is a bit more oomph for bass (hence the subs lol) I know how good these systems are with extra bass because my 350 one, which wasnt as powerful as the 370 unit sounded great with the extra subs.

All i did was change the head unit and add the subs. The stock speakers and boss amp were doing the rest, and it sounded perfect...

I'll first have to say, you can have too much bass. I'm more a fan of sound quality than a big BOOM sound. Admittedly for a BOSE system it's fairly accurate, but so far have only had music through my iPod (ripped at 320k).

As for the weight, if we can make custom box for that area just behind the seats, it's fairly central and will even the weight out if anything.

Amen to that Ellz. Once you hit a tunnel/forest/built up area you cant beat rolling down the windows, turning down the stereo and dropping a gear or 2:tup:.

MrBMW 07-07-2009 06:45 PM

Also by the way heading out to the Time Attack event at QR today to have a look and see how it goes TimeAttack - Home. I wont be racing today, but should be fun none the less.

evse82 07-07-2009 08:41 PM

Yeah you can get too much bass, to be honest I had my amp turned right down for the subs, but just having that little extra bit over the stock sub just made the system sound and feel a whole lot better.

But a big yes from tunnel driving lol... My favourite was the East Link tunnel, dropping down a few gears and cruising at higher revs.... lol

Nice, i like checking out the pics from the Time attacks, some great cars out there.
I used to race my 350 at QR in the SAT weekends. (Still got my semi-slicks)

Is this something you will be looking into in the future also?

Sound quality and reproduction is where it is at personally. I have spent a small fortune on my Home Theater setup and just sitting back and listening to quality music of any kind. I am after similar quality for the car (less expense mind you), but then when it comes for tunnel time, volume and windows are down and the revs are up:tup:.

Just a little Stillen exhaust drive by, that i reckon would sound sweet through any tunnel.

Hey Ellz. After having a quick look today, i'm definately going to go out for some runs. I've had a few runs around Mt.Cotton in my old Turbo Suzuki Swift, but this would be so much better.

I have never done any proper Track work and it seems like such a good way to get the Adreneline out of the system, instead of doing it on the road. It's great to know another member might be interested in this as well. Also thanks to my Sales guy in getting me to check it out. Lastky i might even look into some Drifting as well.

A link for those in QLD that might be interested in some Time Attack track work. There might be other links also, if there are post them up.

Ellz 07-08-2009 01:40 AM

Awesome, Not sure if i would be able to do Time attacks as i work on Wednesdays.
Same with WAS (Wednesday Afternoon Sprints)
However SAT were great and now that lakeside has opened up I will get a feel for the new Z out at QR then head over to Lakeside once im confident.

The only good thing about my shift work is that i work 4 days on then 4 off. So there will be some Wednesdays and some Saturdays that i can do. Never had a look at Lakeside, but that would be another great option also.

nismostu 07-08-2009 05:40 AM

That Stillen drive by sounds great. I'd be interested in a group buy as well. Probably only looking for a cat back system too.

evse82 07-08-2009 08:18 PM

Well I had a quote sent to me for 3 exhausts and 3 intakes.. it came to :

$6317.99 Total USD

But the shipping was a bit weird so ive sent off another email to clarify it.. It basically said door to melb airport... dunno what happens to it after that lol..

ill wait for a response. either way the exhaust is 1260.33USD each and intakes are 549USD each.

I'll keep everyone posted when i get a response
