Ellz - congrats. I know what you mean about the dealers. Most i've contacted haven't got back to me with info and don't seem to know much about the car!
Do you guys know how an ipod connects in the aussie model? I think the US spec had a direct ipod connection in the center console but ours doesn't (unless i'm mistaken?). It has the Audio L/R and Video connection in the center console, and I think an AUX input in or near the glovebox? |
Mmm I'm curious too, hope the iPhone has a direct connection so it doesn't get drained with the Bluetooth on...
Guess I'll find out in a couple of days:p |
I'm guessing it's not a direct connection like the US because they have the hard drive and unfortunately we don't. Not sure why they changed that to DVD based Nav. I liked the idea of loading music onto the hard drive and not even needing the ipod.
|
... We need an adaptor for the iPod.
Thought there was an iPod dock?:-S |
|
Nope... Theres 2 x audio in (red + white) and a video in (yellow) in place of that.
|
Yep, I thought so. That's a bit of a pain... so the iPod can't charge unless you use some adapter and i'd assume the song text can't be displayed on the nav screen. Why they would change it from the US spec I don't know.

Has anyone seen the titanium gray model in Australia?
Was my number one color choice, but wanted to see it in person before deciding, but apparently no one had ANY... Went with Brilliant Silver:) |
Indy - I'm hanging to see the Plat Grey too before deciding. I have seen a white and driving the yellow which were both ok. Leaning towards PG though. I don't mind ordering it and waiting.
The Ipod connector is a dissapointment. I saw two cables in the console area in the one I drove, but didn't pay too much attention to it. No it wont display the track names on the display if it's only an audio link, as it needs the full ipod link to get the full feature set. I wonder how hard it would be to upgrade the unit to the Hard disk model? I'm also dissapointed that there is no reverse camera. The options list says a reverse assist as an option, but that will just be the sensors in the rear bar. The dealer said they are looking into retro fitting cameras. The 18" wheels are terrible IMO! I will have to factor in some decent rims now after seeing them in the flesh. The whole car needs to drop an inch too to make it look right. Does anyone know if we can order one with Brembo's? Just for $ interest... Blackburn Nissan Vic retail - $71k lease - $62k (which Im leaning towards) Cheers, Darren |
Heh, I meant Titanium Gray, slightly different to PG.
Brighton Nissan has/had one on display (PG). I went with Brilliant Silver anyways, and am quite happy with it:) Can drive it because of a technicality with Vic Roads, go green Ps!:-D |
I didn't realize you could drive the Z on your P plates. That's pretty cool. Be sure to post pics ;)

Would have thought it just comes under the 200kw rule for P Platers |
z88m - Did you end up doing the track day at Oran Park? If so, how did it go?
|
Darren - I went to Blackburn Nissan on Monday and saw a white, a yellow, and 2 black Zs. The white looks very nice in person. I'd probably get yellow or white if I was getting one. When you say 71k retail is that including on-road costs and dealer delivery? I also think it's a pity this car doesn't have a reverse camera considering the blind spots. Did you happen to ask if the 19 inch wheels are available as an option? A dealer at Brighton said the 19s would still be available from the spare parts department... not sure if this is possible though as every other dealer seems to think otherwise.
|
Heh yeah, I confirmed with vicroads and the police. If it's not v8, turbo or super charged, modified to increase performance or on the list of banned vehicles at the time of purchase, you can drive it.
Now, of course this only applies to probationary license holders who obtained their Ps after July 1st 2007. For those who got it before then, they are restricted by the power to weight ratio, which would make the 370 illegal. |

I'm actually thinking that they will probably bring in the wheels once the financial crisis is over.. less options less vehicles they need in stock I guess... really sucks, all the reviews are talking about lack of traction with the 18's. @Indy, dude if it isn't on the banned list yet then u better get it quickly lol |

I'm thinking the 2010 model might come with the 19s but I won't hold my breath. All in all, quite disappointing that they've gone tight arse on options. It doesn't do the car justice. |

@370er But then again, ours does come fully loaded, bar the 19" wheels and a HDD SatNav system. We even get some extras the Americans don't, like the heated side mirrors, rear wiper (debatable if its an 'extra') and rear fog lights. :) |
I was kinda excited when I found out the 370 came out with 275's on the rear... cos 245's on the 350z were pretty bad. Almost considering holding out to see what happens with future models, but i need a car now. They release specs of next years model in September, but I dont think I could hold out till then.
Indy, we gotta go cruising when I get mine... |

I know for a fact that the 2010 "facelift" will have the 19's just for marketing purposes.....but thats it. I'm not sure about the other options. A reversing camera would be nice. Im definitely ordering the parking sensors. The price was $71k on road. I am actually doing a ring around tomorrow, so will let you know. The problem I have with purchasing this car is it's over the luxury car tax threshold, so a bit of creative financing is in order. |
Yeah I've driven that yellow one too lol, I'm curious as to why the white one has been there for so long when it's been sold...
So the 19's are gonna be available in 2010? hmmm pretty damn annoying. I wonder how much extra they'll charge for them... I doubt they would bring the reverse camera here, we don't have the same head unit as Japan/US models. From what I've learnt about rear visibility in the 350z and how bad it is in the 370, I'm definately getting the sensors..... |

Price update - $65,250 is my best price so far. Going in this weekend to confirm and place the order.
Another tip....the luxury car tax theshold is about $62,898, so if you pay the dealer a few grand on the side, he invoice the car for just under that price and save you even more robbos! ;) |
Is that for manual or auto? If manual, could probably get them to throw in a free set of floor mats and tint.

So whats the best way to get the best deal? I've been quoted 75K for the manual drive away. My plan was to offer 70K or i walk away.
Is everyone saying that this can be beat? GTRFAN you mentioned about getting the dealer to invoice the purchase for under the LCT threshold and then pay a certain amount with cash on the side? Can you elaborate on this and how to go about, and can others offer advise on obtaining best deal. My feeling is, because its a rare car, discounts are hard to come by I would be paying about 30K Cash and the rest would come from Car Loan Thanks |
This can definitely be beat...
I paid significantly less than what you've quoted and managed to get them to throw in tinting and floor mats. Just ring a few dealers, ask for a quote, then actually go to them and do the whole 'lets sit down and talk' routine. Expect that they'll quote you RRP and then counter offer with a similarly ridiculous offer. Don't budge unless they give you a better offer, otherwise walk. They'll eventually call you back offering better prices. I was still getting phone calls from six different dealers a week after I'd taken delivery of the car... |
Yeah you can definately get lower than 70 drive away, I hadn't really started bargaining and was already well below that....
|
I want to order this month too, if people could post their lowest drive away price they have gotten that would be good. So far went one place and he said 70k drive away for a manual one, without batting an eyelid and said he throw in some things for me so i assume still alot of margin to play with. Really wanna know im getting a good deal.

Does the aussie version 370Z have the garage door opener? I think it's meant to be near the interior rearview mirror or something.
|
The feature you're talking about is the Homelink system on the American touring packages I believe. Unfortunately it isn't included in the Australian model, which is a shame, since I can actually see a use for it.
Currently my garage remote sits in the cup holder or in the arm-rest storage space, which barely holds an iPod as it is... Damn inconvenient:( |
Hi everyone, I'm new here. Car was delivered last week and it's great fun however I just noticed this:

I believe 275 rear comes with the 19inch in the US. Don't think we Aussies are getting them this year. Maybe next year we will.

yeh...those 19s will look much better on the car...not because of the bigger rims but the front 245 and rear 275 will add more road presence to the car..
How can we pay much more than most places and the car comes with a fully equipped comprehensive package get those rear tyre which has the same width as the US models front tyre? I was checking out my mates A5's 19s the other day and he gets 255 standard on all 4 wheels....if I parked a 225/245 beside him...it will make my look dull considering I am driving a pure sports car.... |
Ah I see. Thanks for clarifying!
