Default Rear Ended Z

Sad to report that I was rear ended while queued in traffic last Friday.

Some knucklehead behind me decided that he didn't need to use his eyes while driving and hit me at about 50kph. To say I was annoyed is putting it mildly.

Anyway, from the pics u can see not as much panel damage as I expected, which surprised me, Most of the damage seems to have been done underneath. Notice the tail pipes have been pushed towards the bonnet by about 15cm.

His 97 Corolla had about 1/3 of his bonnet length crushed in.

It'll be interesting to see how much damage and how well it is repaired.
I'm worried that it'll never be the same again.
Am thinking of having a 3rd party inspect the repairs once I get it back to check it all out. And of course, I'll be taking it for a good workout to make sure it handles and feels the same.

Hope your repairs go OK and get someone independent to check out the final result to keep the panel beater and the insurance company honest. Maybe we could meet sometime to swap notes, I am up in Newcastle.

Ouch that sucks....

The back bumper seems pretty hollow hey. and its good that its so flexible thats for sure...
Just use this as a blessing in disguise, buy the Amuse rear bodykit and upgrade the exhaust from stock!! :P hehehe

Good luck with it all mate

Sorry to hear it, like here, it sounds like some of the drivers there need about 1/3 of their bonnet "pushed" in. Good luck with repairs!

thks. Yes, I made sure the cops attended by calling an ambulance to say that I might have whiplash, which luckily I didn't. The ambos checked me out and then the cops turned up.
The knucklehead made the excuse that he was trying to merge into the next lane and had his head turned, which was crap, as just before he hit I spotted him in the rear mirror ad he did not have blinker on. It was only for less than a second but it seemed like 3 seconds and it was obvious he wasn't going to be able to stop in time.

He was booked for neg driving. I think he was SMSing or chatting on the phone and just didn't look. Getting hte cops report and the breaalyser just makes the insurance process that much easier.

Yes, I take the view of trying to turn a negative into a positive - will definitely get a 3rd party to check out the repairs made , mde sure they have used genuine Nissan parts and look at doing some upgrades.

Its probably not clear in the pics but the bumper is full of foam.

anyway, we'll see.
