iPad - who's going to buy one ?
So I here the iPad will be available as of the May 28th. As a lot of you guys get up and jump on the forum first thing in the morning and you people know who I'm talking about. This makes me ask the question, who's going to buy one and which one ?
The prices are as follows :- WiFi only - 16gb $629, 32gb $759, 64gb $879 WiFi + 3G - 16gb $799, 32gb $928, 64gb $1,049 Ok Nerds fess up.................... |
I was going to but I'm setting my sights on the new iphone first..
If I do it'll be the 64gb wifi/3g |
I bought the WiFi only version last month. I like it a lot. (Also have an iPhone and iMac) I highly recommend it. But you have to keep in mind, it is NOT a laptop or desktop replacement... For general Internet/email/facebook/eBay/YouTube/Movies, etc its awesome and works well.

do you realize that you are thinking abt spending 1k on a ******* tablet... you can get a FULLY functional laptop for 1k ...
|
isn't ipad a large glorified iPhone?
I heard it doesn't have USB connectivity I'll pass as I have an iPhone already. |
I think they are pretty cool, but there I see no reason to get one considering I have an iphone
|
I got one on launch day too (yes I'm the guy who has to have the latest greatest gadgets)... I ABSOLUTELY love it!
You have to see yourself using it to justify it, but once you do, you'll never regret it. How many of you get home and jump on the computer just to browse the forums.. Watch YouTube etc... The iPad is fantastic for this :) just my $.02 |
I got one of the 3G 64GB ones, and love it, except for one little thing. I can't get the new posts button to work because it won't let me login. I'm suspecting browser incompatibility, but i could be confused. It's been known to happen before :icon17:

pfft, I would rather a injen intake. But thats just me .....

iPad - its amazing how many people poo poo new gadgets without any understanding of them. I'll probably get one after 6 mo or so when they've settled down a bit, I've already figured out that I can hook it up to the hifi via wireless connection and use its screen to provide a graphicakl interface to easily choose music to play from the iPod interface, Use it around the house instead of lugging a laptop around to look at the Z forum, read newspapers at the b'fast table - woo hoo and a whole heap of stuff that heas'nt even been dreamt up yeat.....bring it on!
|
dreamt of yet? the ipad is the single biggest re-invention of the wheel ever ... just cus steve called it a wholl does not mean its the best thing since sliced bread... come on folks open your eyes... its an over-glorified, under-performing, over-priced, functionality-gimped laptop with no keyboard... for 600 bones...
|
Ya, just like the ipod is a re-invention of the 70's walkman, and the Z is a re invention of the Model T ford, the iphone is a re invention of the Motorola bick of the 80's.dude gimme a break, ....
|
really i like new gagets and tend to buy them as soon as rthey are out but I really don't see what the ipad can do that my iphone cannot? I would really like to know. I am not being cheeky i really would like to know as I have been doing some looking into it

What you haters don't get is that it provides the best browsing experience to date. High def video quality, Bluetooth functionality, navigation, and it has a keyboard. Most people talking bad about it probably have not even tried it yet and just talk for the sake of talking. I have an iPhone and I can turn it into a wifi hotspot and use my iPad anywhere. Pretty cool if you ask me. Personally I agree with the general dislike for Steve Jobs due to his constant restrictions, although he hit this one out of the park IMHO.

If you must have one, then I suggest you check out the competition first. The Lenovo U1 just got dubbed the Ipad killer at CES2010 YouTube - Best Notebook of CES 2010: Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid notebook (Summer 2010) |

Its not so much that it will do anything that other gadgets can't do, but just the ease of the interface. For example, ever tried to read a newspaper on the iphone or read a book? Sure, you can do it but you get pretty sick of such a small screen rather quickly.
I can see using it to interface with the hi-fi for music, reading newspapers, surfing the net...sure I can do all those now with a laptop, but laptops are pretty heavy compared to the ipad and dont boot up quickly..... the real genuis of Jobs and Apple is in the apps and the iTunes store. You'll be able to have your entire magazine and book collection and music and photos etc. all on one gadget that has a great interface and big crisp screena nd be so portable...I can see it being a paradigm shift in the way we consume all sorts of media. Bring it on... |
Ipad would be a great "coffee table" item. While watching TV you canjjst grab it and surf the net without turning your computer on. I can't imagine hauling it into the office. My iPhone suffices.
I may get one someday. |
i don't get why people feel the need to bag the iPad or to defend it... I feel like buying one, so I buy it. It'll most likely sit on the coffee table doing not much, but I will feel happier having one and know that I have one... it'll make a awesome remote control for the apple TV, even if it is an expensive one.

Also it's not $1,000. It's like $600. |
Electronics used to exclude PCs, notebooks, phones, etc.
Nowadays, PCs, notebooks, phones, etc. are also 'expense items'. They have a life-span of about 6 months. Expect to buy sub-$1,500.00 items every 6-9 months. P.S., Although I am a computer-geek by profession, I have been using my desktop for the last 6+ years. |
