What you haters don't get is that it provides the best browsing experience to date. High def video quality, Bluetooth functionality, navigation, and it has a keyboard. Most people talking bad about it probably have not even tried it yet and just talk for the sake of talking. I have an iPhone and I can turn it into a wifi hotspot and use my iPad anywhere. Pretty cool if you ask me. Personally I agree with the general dislike for Steve Jobs due to his constant restrictions, although he hit this one out of the park IMHO.

If you must have one, then I suggest you check out the competition first. The Lenovo U1 just got dubbed the Ipad killer at CES2010 YouTube - Best Notebook of CES 2010: Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid notebook (Summer 2010) |

Its not so much that it will do anything that other gadgets can't do, but just the ease of the interface. For example, ever tried to read a newspaper on the iphone or read a book? Sure, you can do it but you get pretty sick of such a small screen rather quickly.
I can see using it to interface with the hi-fi for music, reading newspapers, surfing the net...sure I can do all those now with a laptop, but laptops are pretty heavy compared to the ipad and dont boot up quickly..... the real genuis of Jobs and Apple is in the apps and the iTunes store. You'll be able to have your entire magazine and book collection and music and photos etc. all on one gadget that has a great interface and big crisp screena nd be so portable...I can see it being a paradigm shift in the way we consume all sorts of media. Bring it on... |
Ipad would be a great "coffee table" item. While watching TV you canjjst grab it and surf the net without turning your computer on. I can't imagine hauling it into the office. My iPhone suffices.
I may get one someday. |
i don't get why people feel the need to bag the iPad or to defend it... I feel like buying one, so I buy it. It'll most likely sit on the coffee table doing not much, but I will feel happier having one and know that I have one... it'll make a awesome remote control for the apple TV, even if it is an expensive one.

Also it's not $1,000. It's like $600. |
Electronics used to exclude PCs, notebooks, phones, etc.
Nowadays, PCs, notebooks, phones, etc. are also 'expense items'. They have a life-span of about 6 months. Expect to buy sub-$1,500.00 items every 6-9 months. P.S., Although I am a computer-geek by profession, I have been using my desktop for the last 6+ years. |
