Servicing Help
Hi Everyone
Need help finding a suitable servicing place for my car. Nissan want to charge like 315 a service... that's more than what i paid annually for my previous VW... basically they can go shove it up their a**... Where do you guys go with your car? esp those in Sydney... Lube Mobile quoted me 178 bucks if i provide the oil. I also got a 120 quote from Midas... again if i provide the oil and filter. |
It may be worth contacting a different dealer, as I am aware they do have differing charges.
Even though I am in Brisbane, I purchased my Z from Randwick Nissan who told me their service cost is only around $220, which is about what I paid the local dealer up here for my 10k service. They made me aware service costs are dependent upon which dealer you choose. |
Seriously mate, I worked for FPV direct in the warranty department. Always get your new car serviced at a dealership. It comes back to bite you if you need after warranty help. Just supply your own oil to save abit of costs.
End of the day mate, its a performance car. If that kind of servicing costs freaks you out. Your owing the wrong type of car. Dealerships really crack it if you only go for them for warranty jobs and dont get the servicing done. |

Dealers can crack it all they want, it's their duty to deal with warranty. Nissan pay for it anyway. I must add, if FPV cracked it for people bringing it in for warranties and not services, you guys had a bad work culture. |

Your money and your car. Just saying how dealerships roll and for that extra support you might get later down the track if you need it, plus resale. For the sake of 50 bux "Wrong type of car crap arugement" Mate I'm just trying to help you out because I've had to work along side dealerships. Clearly your bitten off more than you can chew with your 370z for you to take offence. P.S It was FPV direct not a dealership. Our culture is great thanks. Cheers. |

Learn maths 300+ less 178 or 120 is not 50 bucks. Personally I don't like walking around handing over sums of cash, even if it's 20 bucks, for the sake of it. If I want a warm and fuzzy feeling from handing over cash I'd rather it be the cancer council. Doesn't matter if they're not a dealership, getting narky over not servicing with them whilst getting warranty is classless. The reason they set up shop as part of the warranty network is because they know they get a lion's share of the customer servicing and get to charge a premium for it. Doing the warranty is part of the deal, it's part of the sale of the good with no underlying implication of servicing with the franchise/dealer. I won't be the only person here to not take it to Nissan for servicing. I know others here will take it else where also and wanted to tap into their knowledge. For you to then conclude all those people have bitten off more than they can chew... would be how you'd conclude I guess... from your above logic. |
You have started this thread based off financial motivation in picking a service centre to conduct your servicing.
Where you should of requested Sydney members to advise you of a service centre which is reliable and delivers premium customer service. Due to your comments in starting this thread is hence why I advised of the up keep of a high performance vehicle. You have posted a number of quotes from Lube Moblie and Midas. Tell me friend, how many Nissan 370z would they see a month? Eg. Would you risk incorrect oil filled in your 370z or maybe the wrong oil filter installed? Plus have you forgotten the pro's of a dealership? - Log book stamped ( for resale ) - Genuine parts - Warranty repairs they might detect which you may be unware of. - The very importent which we all love. ECU UPDATES. I'm more then happy to do the maths based off your dealership quote and Lube/Midas if you feel I lack the mental capacity to attempt such a sum. So by your post above, I am not withdrawing my comment of "bitten off more than you can chew " and we shell let other readers of this thread decide for themselves if your post is financially motivated or you if seriously care for your vehicle. Ps. I haven't attacked your logic or your mathematical abilities. I have simply made a statement of what your posted. |

Round 3!! (sexy ring girl parades by...) |

I see how this could seem it was all financially motivated, I re-read my first post. Anyone who owns a 70k car in Australia, let alone can afford the insurance and petrol can afford to pay 315 every 6 months. The oil I purchased for my servicing cost a 100. Yes I don't trust them to use the correct oil but I do trust that they can correctly change the oil. Our car's aren't the sort that need initimate special knowledge to service them like the superexotics. So I guess the point is I see nissan service as average servicing centre that charge a premium. Many will go as far as saying they're a crap servicing centre charging a premium. My view of Genuine parts - they're rebranded crap. In the main forum they've proven things like the Nissan oil filter is not good... we have nfi what the nissan ester oil is... Warranty repair detection - a good mechanic will find the same ECU Updates - Nissan won't issue one unless something really fs up which then will turn into a recall. Seeing what they did with the hatch springs and oil cooler they won't go the extra mile. Log book - good point for most cases but the people that buy our car next are likely to be boyracers that don't give too much credit to official nissan service. I'm not selling mine anyway, rwd manual petrols are on the out and need to hold on to this one. |
I ve spoken to the people in Ford servicing and FPV premium hotline. It was a joke and all they did was say 'I appreciate that your car dont drive straight'. We will tell the dealer to change the wheel alignment specs. Yeah it drove straight, but it killed the tyres even more. Why couldnt blind freddy work out it needed a castor camber kit.
So I took the car to Fulcrum Suspensions, a real automotive suspensions place and they fixed it. Cost $1100 - Castor camber kit, braces and bushes. End result - Car drives straight. Never taking a car back to Ford and $1100 I spent was better than arguing with a bunch of call centre people. I've had have my car modified and the car never has gone back to a Ford dealer. I go to a performance specialist who I can trust and rely on to do mods and servicing. So Gumpy - take your car to a trusted person to service..... Although it is my understanding that as long as a third party has serviced your car as per the log book, Nissan cannot deny your warranty claim. |
I agree Mr Ed, the ford dealership network is a joke.
