370z's make really s*#t boats...
Long story short - I saw water on the road, looked shallow, wasn't. Drove thru, water mangled my front plates and plate cover ripped off, engine cut out, car floated a few feet, I got a little sea sick. Car won't start. Funny smells and
gurgling noises. Tow truck came and towed home. RACV says hydralics locked (whatever that means) and water in air ducts.... :( Need to tow to dealer on Tuesday and told not to start engine. Fully insured with $500 excess but really worried now... Anyone have a similar insurance claim on past cars before as I've heard there might even be an engine replacement required!!?? Argh the downtime! I'm strangely stressed about this situation :( |
well this means you ae getting a new engine. might get a SC from GTM at the same time.

that suck @xx dude..that why i learn to avoid them..or atleast not driving in the rain..
|
hydro lock... not hydrolics lock... lol
its when your engine takes in water and tried to compress it..... bad stuff... new engine time! |
Water does not compress. Air does. So when the piston comes flying up to compress the water it is stopped in it's tracks but the crankshaft and rest of the pistons keep moving. Bent connecting rods, busted crankshaft, and a bunch of other bad stuff happens.
