Default brake dust / debris on side of car

hey guys,

i seem to get alot of black marks on the side of the car, behind the 2 wheel-wells, most which wont come off without a good wash. They extend pretty much the length of the car. They were even there the day i picked up the car from the dealer.

The funny thing is is there is nothing on the rims themselves, they're clean an a whistle. So im thinking its coming up off the road, but i've never had this issue before.

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? as on my yellow z they are very noticeable.

And has anyone maybe used the moulded mudguards to solve his problem? They kinda look a bit small to do any real protecting.

Maybe this is why the US has those deflectors in front of the front wheels, just back from the front chin spoiler.

cheers, cyrus

Hey, nah the deflectors are there to minimise wind resistance onto the wheels so they won't have any effect on this. I'm guessing this is just dirt/mud which has been picked up off the road.

Have they appeared only after it has rained or you have driven over a wet road?

I have noticed some dirt spray up from the wheels onto the side of the car behind the rears but it's hard to see how much there is because mine is black.

The mud guards would be the best option to avoid this (or minimise).

Could it be tyre shine that was put on by the dealer, or by you ? I know that will flick off and end up on the side of the car if there is too much on.
