Z mats broken

I thought I would start a new thread on this issue. I havent seen this issue around the traps.

I am assuming that most owners own the Z mats as it is impossible to get aftermarket ones.

Well, after 6 months of ownership and only 3,500kms, my Z mats plastic stamped holes have broken.

I took them into Nissan and was given a new set. This time, the holes were metal. Perhaps Nissan realised their error of their ways with the initial batch of Z mats in July 2009.

Has anyone had this issue?

If you have, don't tolerate this and get it rectified.

Yeah my drivers side one broke after the first week.... I stepped on it as I got into the car and heard the crack.

I think my passenger one is still ok though.

What dealer in Brisbane did you take them too Mr Ed?

Highway Nissan at Springwood.

Since you bought the car interstate, did you buy the Z mats with the car? If so, bring the purchase contract with you. You will get a 3 year warranty.

However, if you purchased them at spare parts - you will only get a 1 year warranty. Again bring your receipts!

Mine did the same thing only a week after getting it.

That exact thing happened to mine a month after I drove the Z off the lot. Took the car back had 2000 miles and they replaced the mats and it was covered under the warranty.

Yep I had mine replaced too - however the new ones have already knackered themselves so I'll be going back for another set.

were they plastic or metal?

It appears Nissan have produced a set of mats with metal rings.

AH370Z 01-17-2010 04:09 AM

GTRFAN 01-18-2010 12:13 AM

It was a no brainer.

Its probably a common issue. Given that Nissan started with plastic rings and then moved to metal rings indicated a seriously flaw.

But one would wonder with all those years of vehicle manufacturing that it would not be prudent to make plastic rings?

Mine was the metal ring that broke. The flaw was with how the flanges around the circumference of the "washer" don't seat properly when pressed into the carpeting material.
