Melbourne Meet - SUNDAY 24th January (BBQ + Cruise)

UPDATE: DATE SUNDAY 24th January for the meet 11AM, I'll most likely be there from 10 - 10:30 though - Anyone is welcome as well!!

Confirmed:

me
Ronnnie
Darren
Erfan
Matt
Ben
Waqar

Hey guys,

After another round of discussions with Darren..... we have decided to have a bbq (or just picnic to be simple) then go for a little drive through Warrandyte and/or further out.

The meeting place I suggested was Westerfolds Park in Doncaster/Eltham area. It is a massive park with many car parks and food areas. From here we could move on for a drive and get Ice cream for instance (anywhere that sells mung bean)

We decided on a poll to get the maximum amount of members present.... although it'll just end up being me, Ronnie, Darren, Waqar, Matt and possibly Erfan again.... Ben..... well......... he's too cool for us these days :shakes head: also where did all the dyno crew disappear to???

Anyhoo,
So select which days best suit you (I'm not even sure if multiple selections are possible?!?!?) and let us know so we can plan in advance and get some nice photos ... you know.... ones that we haven't photoshopped to add cars in.....

There will also be no car flipping of any kind and no Negative Nancies. Who knows? We may have even organised a special guest to come... or not.... but you never know!!!!! (there isn't (or is there? (no)))

Once we get a date organised I'll update this post with numbers.

Waqar 12-30-2009 03:24 AM

Good idea Evan

apart from 17th and 30th I am available as on those dates I'll be doing track/drift days :)

GTRFAN 12-30-2009 06:04 AM

Good work Ev!

Sounds intense, who is this mystery organiser? Legend has it that he once organised a pre-meet where more people turned up than that actual meet. Four in total. Good times.

Ok... Firstly I reckon we get Ben aka Jekel to make a guest appearance!
Secondly, any Sunday and even that Sunaday, is best for me.
Thirdly, Evan Stop Breaking the Forum!

Any Saturday would be fine with me..., but if you guys decided on Sunday I can arrange replacement for my shift @ work... as long as you guys decided the date couple of days or a week b4.

evse82 01-03-2010 04:01 PM

Ok well I'm thinking Saturday the 23rd is looking like it may be a date to look at.... What do you guys think? We can start looking at locking it in at the end of the week.......

Ben, this is a real shock, I thought we were all getting along well. Evan will be devastated by this. I think you better tell him yourself in person. He will cry.

Ben man, this is just weird.... Firstly thanks for the SMS regarding this but fark man. I don't understand.... It's not like we are dating, it's just a bunch of guys who like the same things ie -> Cars. The guys never did anything to offend you (as far as I know) and I know I didn't, so it's just a little bit crazy that you'd say something like this...... I'm just not sure if one of the guys busted a move on you?!?! Thats no reason to not get involved with the meets, we can always keep you guys apart.

I hope you change your mind mate...... you'll definately be missed.....

Majestik 01-04-2010 12:45 AM

I have to say that I'm dissapointed with your attitude Ben.

At first I thought it was a racist thing with you being Asian in a group of Caucasians but then what does that say about your views of me? I'm one of you man! ONE OF YOU MAN!!!

Look. I understand that I'm the better looking asianethtic in our group but it's not a good enough reason for you to leave me being the only one! Who are others going to compare me with now?! Evan??Bah!

Anyway Ben I want you to understand that I miss you man but you have emotionally stabbed me in places I didn't know were there to stab...

Forgiveness isn't my middle name.. And you will never ever know what it is if you don't attend this meet!

Oh and Sunday 24th sounds good.

evse82 01-04-2010 01:13 AM

Ronnie, you really need to back off ok. When you say things like that, you really scare people. I mean I wanted to open up to Ben as you have but I didn't want to sound vulnerable.

The truth is Ben, when I first caught a glimpse of your tail pipes I thought "this thing of beauty needs to feel appreciated". I constantly thought of your warm embrace as I watched you grab your shift knob for the first time. You reminded us all of the pitiful people we really are. This silence you have brought upon us digs into my back like getting shanked with a spoon in prison.

Did you make the Australian Lancer forum members feel the same way when you left that club too? How many people are you going to hurt?

I know tonight I'll be crying clenching my Teddy bear. What will you be doing? Not caring I think.....

Aren't you trying to entice Ben back into our fold?

You might wanna edit and change it to 'benju' for long and thick.

So are we having a farewell cruise?

GTRFAN 01-04-2010 06:14 PM

[SERIOUS FACE]

I guess Ben is really selling his car and moving on for good reasons, so I feel it's a bit rude to carry on with this joke. Talk about timing though if it's actually true!

Ben, It will be really sad to see you leave our group and you will be genuinely missed by all. As a random group of guys with a common interest, it's surprising how well we get along in the real world.

You still hold the record for being the only guy to buy a white car and make us all ridiculously jealous everytime we meet.

Best of luck with everything mate and tell that new girl that she is lucky we don't hunt her down for stealing our white Z member! :)

Farewell BBQ for Ben for sure!

[/END SERIOUS FACE]

PS. Ben you should probably attend your own farewell cruise! :)

I fear my pants will never be happy again :(

Well first of all congratulations dude, welcome to my world now hahaha I guess we can discuss the date etc on this, our newly named Farewell BBQ meet.

You will be missed. I agree with Darren, the timing was just crazy....

Can't you just refinance and keep the car? I mean that's what I'm gonna do when I buy a house because we bought new and it's just a waste of money. No need to only have one from 2! (just an idea) Once the cars on a mortgage it's not that much more for repayments (I've looked into this :p)

As you may be aware, I don't want you to leave :( I'll fight to the death lol

Yeh it has been great guys and like Darren mentioned funny we all get along so well in real life even though its the car that got us together.

Actually i can keep the car i think but i am worried i will be running too lean on $$. Already have a lancer too and partner has cx7 and with so many bills coming i'd rather have some spare cash in case something unexpected happens. I bought my house with my aunty few years ago and she has agreed to sell me the other half. My partner still studying and is not really planning to get a job anytime soon so im supporting the both of us.......

Sell the stupid lancer lol... well I mean I can't tell you what to do.... but keep the damn 370!!! lol

Nah that's fair enough. In the end of the day you have to get it right... I'll be sticking with the car when I get a house but Abs has a full time job so that helps I guess.... then again I get paid less than Hungry Jacks wages so that basically gives us one wage... So I'm in your boat..... Thats it!! I'm selling my car too.... lol What I do is put a bit of money aside just incase something happens so I have money to pay for the loan etc.... So far this year I have saved up, doing this $42.35 so I'm covered.... You should do the same too.

GTRFAN 01-04-2010 07:46 PM

Congrats Ben! Use the white Z as the wedding car!

Yeah the majority of them are scams, I had so many when I was selling my 350... so basically you should just stop trying to sell it. I hear people don't scam Lancers as it is a holy vehicle in many countries around the world. You'll have more luck with that car................. hint hint................

Another option
Sell the CX7 while it's still worth a fair bit and keep the Lancer as a daily and the Z for cruising!

A joke? I thought we were being serious! Especially with Evan finally coming out of the closet..

Ben, my wife works at Westpac. Might be worthwhile seeing your options (she says) as what evan said is true. Adding the car cost to your house or something works out well.

Don't quote me as I wouldn't know 100% as I was lucky enough to pay cash for mine.

Farewell get together when?

******WARNING OFF TOPIC MASSIVE RANT BELOW*********

Yep, I've had two friends sell their cars to fund a new house. Both have regretted it and both say they could have done it even without selling the cars in the end.

Just keep in mind, a motgage can be pushed out to 50 years (example) but a car loan can only, in most cases, run for a life of 5 years. Now comparing a house price (mean 440k in Melb) to a car price (65k for 370z), basically ur running 440k over 50 years or 65k over 5 years. Ofcourse the car loan will be a shitload more in repayments. However, add that to the home loan that makes 505K over 50 years not taking into account the interest (this is a very rough example) so at:

$440k mortgage, repayments are $733p/m not inc. interest
$505K mortgage, repayments are $842p/m not inc. interest
This isn't a hell of a lot more money per month......

Also keep in mind, I pay almost $1200 p/m just for my car loan....... So when I do buy a house this year and refinance I'll most likely be paying less for both. Hell, I even bought my car after I got engaged lol.

Just something to think about of course.... I put a fair amount of thought into my future plans as well hence this rant... but there aint any chance of selling my car unless it was absolutely positively necessary.... i.e. I'm broke and no one wants to buy my body in St. Kilda no more... I mean..... not that I've been previously doing that......

evse82 01-05-2010 01:45 AM

Let me also just add that I'm just telling you this so you have a think about it... I don't want to be the person you have to break the legs of when everything goes wrong lol....

jekel 01-05-2010 04:10 AM

3100pm???!?!?!?! WTF? Dude thats the same amount for repayments on a $500,000 loan over 30 years (i just checked it lol) $3215pm to be exact (this time including interest)

If you're paying that for 200k then you are getting shafted dude the repayments for a 200k loan is $1285.25 and thats over a 30 year period...... even if you still owe 200k thats 400k and the repayments are 2570.20....

evse82 01-05-2010 04:50 PM

Anyhoooooooo......... back to the topic at hand......

We have a higher poll for the 23rd so far, however Ronnie can only do Sunadays (yes, I meant that) but Bezz can't do Sundays so we need to figure this one out lol I'm thinking a caged match between Erfan and Ronnie, mixed martial arts, fight to the death. The victor gets to come on the cruise which will be held on their free day.......

Nah, he said he's adding 200k to his current mortgage. It's all about right....but another 60ish for the car isn't going to make a difference. KEEP THE CAR! There are plenty of options like refinancing, lowering interest and taking out a wealth package option with big discounts, etc.

On a serious note, I can highly recommend my financial adviser as he could offer you some decent financial advice and structure for your future. Free as well. He builds relationships with clients and makes his money on brokerage and other ways. He was recommended to me and I have used him for my mortgage, car, etc structure. Based in the Queens Rd building. Let me know if you want his details.
