Actually i can keep the car i think but i am worried i will be running too lean on $$. Already have a lancer too and partner has cx7 and with so many bills coming i'd rather have some spare cash in case something unexpected happens. I bought my house with my aunty few years ago and she has agreed to sell me the other half. My partner still studying and is not really planning to get a job anytime soon so im supporting the both of us.......

A joke? I thought we were being serious! Especially with Evan finally coming out of the closet..

Ben, my wife works at Westpac. Might be worthwhile seeing your options (she says) as what evan said is true. Adding the car cost to your house or something works out well.

Don't quote me as I wouldn't know 100% as I was lucky enough to pay cash for mine.

Farewell get together when?

******WARNING OFF TOPIC MASSIVE RANT BELOW*********

Yep, I've had two friends sell their cars to fund a new house. Both have regretted it and both say they could have done it even without selling the cars in the end.

Just keep in mind, a motgage can be pushed out to 50 years (example) but a car loan can only, in most cases, run for a life of 5 years. Now comparing a house price (mean 440k in Melb) to a car price (65k for 370z), basically ur running 440k over 50 years or 65k over 5 years. Ofcourse the car loan will be a shitload more in repayments. However, add that to the home loan that makes 505K over 50 years not taking into account the interest (this is a very rough example) so at:

$440k mortgage, repayments are $733p/m not inc. interest
$505K mortgage, repayments are $842p/m not inc. interest
This isn't a hell of a lot more money per month......

Also keep in mind, I pay almost $1200 p/m just for my car loan....... So when I do buy a house this year and refinance I'll most likely be paying less for both. Hell, I even bought my car after I got engaged lol.

Just something to think about of course.... I put a fair amount of thought into my future plans as well hence this rant... but there aint any chance of selling my car unless it was absolutely positively necessary.... i.e. I'm broke and no one wants to buy my body in St. Kilda no more... I mean..... not that I've been previously doing that......

evse82 01-05-2010 01:45 AM

Let me also just add that I'm just telling you this so you have a think about it... I don't want to be the person you have to break the legs of when everything goes wrong lol....

3100pm???!?!?!?! WTF? Dude thats the same amount for repayments on a $500,000 loan over 30 years (i just checked it lol) $3215pm to be exact (this time including interest)

If you're paying that for 200k then you are getting shafted dude the repayments for a 200k loan is $1285.25 and thats over a 30 year period...... even if you still owe 200k thats 400k and the repayments are 2570.20....

evse82 01-05-2010 04:50 PM

Anyhoooooooo......... back to the topic at hand......

We have a higher poll for the 23rd so far, however Ronnie can only do Sunadays (yes, I meant that) but Bezz can't do Sundays so we need to figure this one out lol I'm thinking a caged match between Erfan and Ronnie, mixed martial arts, fight to the death. The victor gets to come on the cruise which will be held on their free day.......

Nah, he said he's adding 200k to his current mortgage. It's all about right....but another 60ish for the car isn't going to make a difference. KEEP THE CAR! There are plenty of options like refinancing, lowering interest and taking out a wealth package option with big discounts, etc.

On a serious note, I can highly recommend my financial adviser as he could offer you some decent financial advice and structure for your future. Free as well. He builds relationships with clients and makes his money on brokerage and other ways. He was recommended to me and I have used him for my mortgage, car, etc structure. Based in the Queens Rd building. Let me know if you want his details.

Hey Bez, can you handball your Nando's responsibilities to someone on the Sunaday to free your time? Aren't you the manager? Exploit your power! :)

hhmm yup pls pm me darren..........now that u guys have me thinkin on it maybe will sell lancer even tho worth like nothing and drive my z everywhere, guess will have to be more prepared for scratches etc..........i spose if going bad places will have the cx7.........i am waiting at home now for house valuer, fingers cross not gonna cost me too much

evse82 01-05-2010 08:17 PM

Yeah, well I basically drive mine everywhere but if I go somewhere shady I take Abs' civic lol. I'm yet to get a scratch on mine... But I try to enjoy it as much as I can, I drive pretty much everywhere in it out of work hours...

Look in the end of the day what you think is right is what you should do. We just put ideas in front of you so you know what your options are. I in no way want to stuff you up by giving you bad info etc I just want you to think about it.... plus the pain of you not being there in the future would be to great for all of us to cope with :p

I know that selling the z would be a last resort for me since cars are what give me the most joy.... I mean..... after Abs of course *cough* lol I was upset enough when I sold the 350 and that was even knowing that in a few months I'd be getting the 370, and in that time I was miserable driving my dads maxima lol

erfan aka 'The Rescheduler' said that he can shuffle staff for a Sunday.

Up to you man. You've already chased one of us away... *nudge nudge*.

If it has to be a Saturday, it'll need to be after 3:30pm.

I can do Sunday no problem..., I just need a confirm date, so I can arrange somebody to replace me that day :)

I can take a day or days off any days I like... but the thing is.... the way I mod my car ... I gotta work long hrs to reduce my shop overheads.... which means more mod $$ for me :happydance: :rofl2: ... my rule of thumb 1/2 salary for mods and the rest + profit for day to day living :ughdance: (better not let my wife see this post :roflpuke2: )

Ben: Sorry to see you let go your car and congrats for the engagement. Btw, how much you willing to sell the car? I will persuade my business partner to buy the 370z..., he might be interested to buy yours... :) , but his mind already set to get Audi A5 2.0T DSG...., I will tell him with that kind of money..., he can have the 370z and all my mods and probably gonna get some spare change too :stirthepot:

evse82 01-06-2010 06:29 PM

Cool thanks Erfan, at least someone tries.... isn't that right Ronnie??? lol

Nah well thats good then, we can use that Sunday as a date then (not date as romantic date, but merely a date to meet on)

I'll let it sit for a few more days then we can lock it in.

Is everybody happy with this?
