Got thrown a CEL last night

Anyone here with HFC's or test pipes gotten a Check engine light (service engine soon, MIL and the list goes on) yet?

I was driving last night and it popped up. It was on constantly and not blinking which going by the manual (except for mexico) is says its a fault with the engine control system.

So I bought a cheapo OBDII code reader of ebay to check the code... when it comes.

I reset using the accelerator pedal technique and it's gone now.. hopefully it never comes back lol

any AutoZone or other auto parts store should be able to scan your car for free.

evse82 11-09-2009 06:56 PM

hmmm nah we haven't got autozone in Australia, I don't think the auto places here do that, well not for free anyways :(

ah that blows. nice resource for all the car-tarded people we have here, as well as the ones that know what they're doing.

haha yeah I'm sure if they had it here I'd live in there, probably a good thing I guess....

did u hit a speed bump or a pot hole?? chances are that one of the O2 sensors is damaged or got triggerd for what it does, measure O2.

evse82 11-09-2009 07:56 PM

Nah I didn't hit any bumps I was pretty much just cruising and looked down to see it, I'm hoping it just triggered from the cats, bit weird though because the Berks have the non-fowlers.... ah well I'll have to wait till I get the OBD reader to make sure...

Man, you're having the best run of late are u? :(

Why don't we meet up at an intersection somewhere and ignore the traffic signals? Lol.

I'd like a white one now I think! :)

Could be the HF cats, others had similar issues. Additional anti-fouling such as steel wool in the O2 sensor port should take care of it, or use a spacer to move the O2 sensor out a few more mm.

Man Its gonna end up like this one day soon... you have pushed your negative car feelings onto me now hahaha

Yeah Chris I was reading up about the steel wool. I hope this is the fault and nothing else :(

Had CEL. Multi Cylinder misfire. Dealer adjusted ECU. Running a bit lean. They said with the after market CAI, this sometimes happened. Running fine, smooth. Peter's of Nashua did great job. Stillen CAI with Modshack Fang vents. All better now. My cars got more CPU than the first computer I worked on in the 70's.

Fixed it yet evse82??? Why dont you just pop in to a Dealer and ask them to read the code for you and ask them to reset the CEL???

Last time the bonnet pop-up light came up on mine (The guy painted the fangs disconnected the sensor), went to Werribee Dealer, they reset it for me for free. Worth a shot.
