Basically, I made my own spacer with the grills. Sorry for the misinformation.

I'm installing my drivers today, and I'll be keeping that attached, and using an MDF adaptor to mount the drivers to those factory plastic adapters mounted to the door. Fitment is fine without grinding anything down. |

Not exactly what I was referring to. I meant on the Hertz speaker grills themselves. Since the grills do not get used in a door mounting, I used the grills as spacers behind the drivers. All the factory mounts remained unchanged.

That being said, I will be removing the factory mounts, and building a custom set with fiberglass for whatever I chose to install next. I may be stepping up to the hertz mille set, I'm not sure.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I'm retaining the factory ones only because they are already engineered to keep water off the components.
I have the Mille tweeters (newest generation, ML280.3) on order now that they are finally here in North America, I'll let you know my impressions of them. Obviously I couldn't audition these ones as even dealers don't have the samples here just yet, but I loved the 280.2's and the specs on these one are an impressive upgrade. |

Ok after adjusting a little today here is what sounds best to my ears.
On the Focal amp there are 3 controls 1 Gain - Turned up about 1/4 way 2 Crossover- FULL - When I set it at High Pass Filter I lost some lows. 3 FREQ- On the Crossovers I changed the Tweeter from 0db to -3 Tweeter=-3 Woofer=High Listening to Dire Straits it sounds pretty darn good on usb mp3. I have XM but the quality is pretty bad the last few years on the channels I listen to. 25, 26 etc. Usually don't even listen to XM anymore. I stream Spotify from my S5 on bluetooth and that sounds great. So far I am happy with the Focals. And the Dynamat did quiet things even though I didn't do it the best way. |
