Need a quick question answered

I'm getting ready to install a back up camera, the install sounds very simple except that on the RCA that goes to the head unit, it has a short red wire coming out of each end. Not sure what to do with that as I couldn't find it in a search. Thanks:tiphat:

Try these

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/5...am-ak370z.html

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...se-camera.html

https://app.box.com/s/6l0il9j3gy3qjoc5iblw

If none of those work, try the google search under advanced search at top of screen -- tons of links so one of them should have what you need if those don't.

Good luck!

Not sure I'm envisioning exactly what you are describing. If it is what I think it is then it's probably meant to be a convenient 12 volt trigger to turn the camera on when the car is put in reverse.

I'm with Nillaz on this one. Kind of a vague description, but that's what I'm seeing in my head.

In the first link that Jordo provided, it shows almost exactly what im talking about except that in the one pictured it only has a small red wire coming from one end of the yellow video plug, mine has it at both ends of the yellow video wire. Hope that helps?

No manual provided with unit?? what brand/model #??

Here's the unit I ordered, in the group of pictures on the left, you can see what I'm talking about in the last picture. No Instructions:shakes head:

Red is the 12v

I believe with that set up you don't connect at both ends:it's one or the other. If you hook it up HU side it gets connected to your HU's switched power, which in turn means the camera will come on whenever your car is started. If you use the camera side wire tap into your backup lights. The camera will then only activate when you put the car in reverse.

RonRizz 12-27-2014 03:28 AM

Cossie is correct, and Nillaz nailed it right on the head. 12v trigger only hooked up at one point. HU for constant power, or reverse lights for reverse only.

Great, thanks folks.:tiphat:

Ok for all you AppRadio2 users, the red wire that's attached to the video cable needs to be connected to the tail lamp tap, also it needs to be connected to the purple and white wire at the head unit. If your camera's video cable doesn't have this, you will have to run a separate feed from the tail light back to the head unit.

Glad you got it figgered out, tommyguns.....

Thanks bro. Yeah only had to pull the head unit twice LOL. All in all it was an easy job and well worth the time and $15.00
