Pioneer CarPlay finally available
 

Firmware released today adds CarPlay support to a bunch of Pioneer units.

I updated the firmware on my 8000nex and even though the interface is a little more sluggish than I would have hoped, overall it's nice. The integration with the phone/maps/messaging is great.

Anybody else had a chance to try it out yet?

I don't use an iPhone so can't take advantage of the carplay features, but I'm hoping that the new firmware addresses some other niggling annoyances on the 8000NEX. Thanks for the heads up that this was released, I'll look into installing this tomorrow.

Anyone here have the 4000NEX?

We have a 4000NEX for evaluation and it's OK. Not slow, but not fast either. Didn't seem to make a big difference in operating speed/response, etc. Carplay is OK but there is nothing I could do before that I can do now except have crappy Apple maps on screen.
Since we're not in Star Trek times the Siri voice control/message/compose thing is practically worthless.
My iPhone 6 with iOS 8.0.2 is working fine as are our other iDevices.
