Noob looking for a new double din head unit !!!! help me
Now, I'm looking to replace the OEM head unit with a decent double din head unit.
What is the different between 6.1 inches and 7 inches? Which one perfectly fit with the OEM slot? Do Appradio require a cable to connect to the phone or today we could use it without the cable? I prefer wirelessly connection. My needs are be able to plug in and play Apps from the phone ( I think it's called Appradio), mirror link would be perfect, be able to control things over the display for example skip, play, and pause Spotify, and be able to support new Iphone6 or should I wait for the iphone 6 to come out and find the one that compatible (for this one I do not sure that can we just change the adapter for the wire and we are good to go or we need to look for official compatible model), dont want the GPS function because I wanna use the GPS thru the Appradio ( the one with GPS navi tends to be more pricey than the other),and HD radio is not necessary lol. Ps. I dont need DVD player since Im not gonna watch anything >< and moreover What happen to the outdated Headunit? For example, if it said compatible for 4 and 4s not 5, Will iPhone 5 still able to use functionally or people just upgrade their Headunit? Thank for helping |
6.1 to 7 is the LCD screen size difference. obviously 7" is larger.
yah, i just sell my old and buy a new HD every now and then to keep up with technology and cool factor. |

industry standard iso7736 goes by din. these are double din size. |
Correct me if im wrong, but Double Din is the size you need and they should be the same size.. If a screen size is different, it should JUST be the screen thats smaller. So as long as the size is double din, thats what matters.

you can buy a single din HU and place a din size cup under it or door or shelf watever if you want to too. the opening on the car is for double din size. |

6.1" DDIN units typically have volume controls mounted on the left side, while their 7" counterparts do away with the side control panel usually for bottom mounted controls or full touch screen controls. But yea, a DDIN unit is DDIN. Industry standard sizes. Unless you get a cheapo ebay DDIN, sometimes they'll give you fitment issues.

bump for same question. All i want is to be able to display google maps from my Samsung Note 2 without too much hassle. Obviously should include bluetooth streaming but most HU can do that.
Also Aescen nice avatar lol. |

I've been searching like literally all day on this too.. (slow day at work).
The caveat is seems with the appradio is that only certain apps are supported , google maps not being one of them. The mirrorlink sounds promising, but with that you have to make sure your phone is turned sideways. And the screen on and plugged in to another 100 dollars worth of adaptors not sold with any headunit. And even then the charging that the headunit provides is not enough to keep up with running navigation. oh and if you want to stream bluetooth audio like shoutcast radio or something, nope not while mirrorlink is on.. I really want to be wrong about these things i've read, so if someone knows from experience that i'm way off please comment. |
Look into DDX5901HD 6.1" With HDMI in. You will need an adapter for your Samsung but it will display your phone on the screen.
