Default Audio noob - please help :)

Hey guys,

so I'm looking for a little more bass out of the system while still being able to use my bootspace when needed, so I've been looking around and have come across this sub + box + amp combo, all in one unit which would be really easy to remove from the boot if needed.

will I be able to use the existing power etc.. that is going to the Bose audio subs in the boot to power this unit? or will I have to run larger wiring from the front of the car to the rear to support something like this?

I can't find any size of the box though on this product - OPTION AUDIO OA12ACTVSP 12" SLOT PORT 1000W ACTIVE SUB + AMP + WIRING KIT COMBO - Super Cheap Everything

The description says it comes with a "Full Wiring Kit" so I'd assume you have to run the power wire, RCA's and Remote wire from the radio, and ground....

I would just replace the head unit... I did that and it made a world of difference, the stock subs actually now sound like subs, plus you're not sacrificing trunk space.

AVH-X1600DVD - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 6.1" WVGA Touchscreen Display, MIXTRAX, and AppRadio Mode for iPhone® 4S and iPhone® 4 | Pioneer Electronics USA

I have last years model, the 1500 (only difference from this years 1600 is the design of the interface is slightly different)... but crutchfield sells the 1600 for $299:

Plus, you get the dash kit, wiring harness, and antennae adapter free, the only other thing you would need is the control box for keeping your steering wheel controls (if you have them, or want to keep them...) Here's mine:

looks cool man but already got the Nav unit etc.. don't really want to replace it if I don't need to, just looking for a cheap solution to get some better sound.

I've contacted the vendor to ask for dimensions, it's the easiest and best looking solution I can find for the price, 500wrms will be overkill already lol.

Ahhhh my bad, didn't know you had the stock Nav... might also want to look into some of the slim sub/amp setups they sell for trucks: Hideaway | KICKER

I also have the nav, so I didn't want to upgrade the head unit. To get more bass, I added an Alpine sub and a pioneer 10" subwoofer in a down firing enclosure. I choose the down firing enclosure so that I can still use the trunk without setting anything on the woofer. This has worked great for me. More bass than I need. Since the amp I used had speaker level inputs, I didn't need to add a line converter. I just tapped into the wires going to the stock subs in the spare tire. I put the amp on the shelf behind the driver's seat. If I want to, I can take the sub completely out in 2 mins and have full access to the trunk. It was ~$400 for amp, sub, wire kit and remote knob.

I had this sub enclosure installed 2 weeks ago on my MTX300w amp and it crapped out within a week. On the amps lowest possible settings the Pioneer failed and I am considering setting the enclosure on fire.
I have since purchased the JL audio dual 8's and it THUMPS!
