Default Kenwood KSC hookup to OEM Bose (non-nav) question

Hey all,

I'm thinking off adding a powered sub to the OEM Bose system (non nav). I just want some extra bass, nothing crazy. I downloaded the kenwood manual and looked at it, but I have one question about the install: how exactly does the Kenwood (or any powered sub unit) connect to factory wiring? It appears it just splices into your speaker wires. Has anyone done this? Does the OEM Bose head unit have RCA outputs?
No, I don't want to upgrade the head unit

What to know about Bose

honestly not sure if it can be done since BOSE has its own sub and amp already

Thanks - I read this article in the past but it doesn't seem to address adding a powered subwoofer. I don't want to replace the Bose woofer, I want to supplement it with a 'standalone' woofer

Self powered sub usually have a speaker lvl input. All you have to do is splice into your existing speaker wires after the Bose amp and connect it to your self powerEd sub unit. If the unit doesn't have a speaker line in, then You need to buy a loc. A loc will take your signal from the speaker wire and convert to an RCA output which then you can plug it into your amp or self powered sub.

Cool, thanks Minh. I've settled on the Kenwood KSC-SW11 - looking at the manual, it does have speaker level inputs so I shouldn't have a problem with install.
