[HELP] Radio Signal on DNX 6140

Seems like my radio is not catching most of its signal (only some radio stations are working depending on where I am located). Is anyone having issue with radio signal?

have you altered anything from stock ?

I don't think so. I went to audio shop and got it installed. I'm gonna stop by the shop and figure it out I guess. I'll let you know what was wrong with it. Thanks though

NO issues here (but I don't listen to regular radio. I have SIRIUS) Even when I DO listen to the normal radio stations, they are crystal clear.

Sounds like they forgot or DID NOT hook up the antenna or if they did they did not connected the blue wire coming from the adapter to the blue wire on the other harness. That wire tells the powered amp that boosts the antennas signal to turn on. If it is not told to turn on your going to get crappy signals.

This is the wire I am talking about. Fallow that blue wire and it goes to the other harness. That tells the antenna amp to turn on.

I can second the blue wire comment, I didn't hook that up because I figured we didn't have a power antenna and it shouldn't be needed... Typically you only need it to raise a powered antenna, but it seems to be required on the 370z.

the blue wire actually hooked up to the remote turn-on blue/white wire on my pioneer... the antenna needs 12v power.

you can wire it up to the switched power too if you'd like.

bigaudiofanat 09-15-2009 02:58 PM

I would only recommend hooking it up to the antenna blue wire not the constant power wire that one is for amps. They both work just would use the correct one.

on mine the blue wire on the scosche harness didnt provide power for the antenna connector's blue wire initially even though i had it like your picture.

so went back and connected the remote blue/white wire to the antenna connector's blue wire... and it worked. :)

I am curious. How did you make out at the shop today?

kpyo2000 09-16-2009 12:03 AM

sorry guys, I haven't had time to stop by yet. very busy with military and school. As soon as I stop by the shop, I will let you guys know. Seems like I'm the only one having this problem. By the way, the guy who installed my dnx6140 got fired cause he apparently did not know how to INSTALL! and scrached my dash board.

kenchan 09-16-2009 12:26 AM

yah, well mine's a pioneer so the wiring can be different than your kenwood.

hope you get that fixed soon. :)

kpyo2000 09-21-2009 11:11 PM

Guess what!! The installer told me that its normal. I was like what!! Supposely he was saying that its common for the after market audios and plus he was like "mine is like that too" which relieved me. jk So this is my story from the shop.

kenchan 09-21-2009 11:36 PM

really? hummmm... my aftermarket stereo's have clear reception. maybe FM signals aren't that strong in your area(?). kinda hard to believe though. you stock hu had clear reception, right? should be about the same.
