2009 370Z Navigation System Swap
I know this has been touched up on before, but it seems it is always someone without the factory nav trying to put one in. What if the car ALREADY has navigation?
The AV system in the 2009 is the ugly duckling of the 370Z's. (Compact flash...really guys??) It was changed for 2010+ with more features (USB, BT audio streaming , Rear view camera support with dynamic track lines, DVD based upgrades, higher res screen with enhanced GPS, etc). If one has a 2009 370Z with navigation already, how much effort is it to swap the unit with a 2010+ navigation unit and screen? Being that car already has the nav wiring harnes, wouldn't it just be a matter of unplugging the 2009 unit and plugging in the 2010+ unit and swapping the higher res screen? I can't imagine that the wiring would be different but there is little info on the subject of swapping. Has anyone tried or looked into this in detail? There was one post that seemed to die without a conclusion: http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...on-2011-a.html |
Hi Radensb, I honestly have no idea whether that would work or not. Best way to find out would be to try it. I bet the head unit only changed, oh wait, maybe the BT module too, since 2010 added A2DP, 2009 doesn't have it. Also the screen resolution changed along with the Navi update method. 2009 uses Nissan tool with Nissan software, and 2010 and up use discs I think for upgrades.

Greetings,
Just some information about the factory Navigation system and those of you who want to change your systems out. I own a 2010 370Z Convertible and I have been thinking of replacing the Navigation system/Radio in the car. I have read a lot of information on line that many other owner have said, no don't change it and that everything is linked to it. While yes this to a certain extent is true. I decided to myth bust this theory over the weekend. I disconnected the Navigation system, and I had no issues with any of my lights working. While I agree this is true to a certain extent, such as seeing the temperature on the screen when you turn the air up or down, or even when a call comes through on your phone, yes I agree you will loose this functionality. I do have a limited edition "Z"...1 out of 64 however unless my "Z" is one that was made differently than all the others ever produced, this should be applicable to any owners that want to change out their Navigation system(s). Hit me up if you have nay questions |
So when you removed it, what did you do about the climate controls? I bought the new interior pieces with the cubby and the three dial climate control unit so the bottom kit can be replaced, but the pin out is different for the non-nav climate controls and the nav climate controls.

I totally removed my Navigation system. |
I'm bumping this thread, I'm interested to swap my 09 factory nav for a 10+ but I am not sure what to buy.

Me too, I'd like to know more about this

Well, as I mentioned in a couple other threads I successfully swapped the Navigation off my 2009 fully loaded to a 2011 Navigation system and it work perfect I also got the USB going.
The parts you need for the swap are the screen, AV unit and the USB connector plus all the pig tail (plug ins from the back of the screen, unit and USB connector). All of them have to be the same year or the same car or they won't work because different years screen and unit don't like each other. |
Forgot to mention I got the parts off a G37.

Has anyone performed an 2009 Oem Navi Swap to a newer navi with a back up camera? If so can you point me to the right thread. Thanks.
