Speed Signal Input
Greetings to all. I had a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX installed a couple weeks ago and it appears the 'Car Speed Signal Input' wire was not connected. On the diagnostic screen, there is a reference to a Speed Pulse that remains at 'Zero' when the Z is moving.
Does anyone know where to tie into that signal wire in the Z? It is a 2014 Base, automatic. Thanks in advance for any replies. BTW, I have a diagram for the plug for the OEM unit and there is no reference to a speed signal. Any help appreciated. |
Here is the post that helped me tap into the Vehicle Speed Signal (VSS) wire behind the instrument cluster. Speaking of instrument cluster, it has to come off, which for me was a pretty scary proposition. In the post below is another link to removing the instrument cluster.
http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...ly-answer.html I also wired mine to a switch, so it would not limit what I could do while moving. However I have found that I have never had to disable it. Maybe that is just for watching videos while driving. Which I have never tried doing Good luck.... |
Thank you for responding to my question. After reading some posts on the AVIC411.com forum, it does not appear that the benefits of installing the speed sensor wire is worth the effort to open up the dash again. My installer either didn't know where to tie into the signal wire in the vehicle or did not consider it important/necessary. At this point, I will just leave it as-is and not worry about it any further. My 5000NEX is working great and think I will leave well-enough alone.

Mike it really is not worth the effort. I have never installed the speed wire for the pioneers and never had a problem. There was ONE customer with a Mercedes who was absolutely insistent that it made a difference and had me hunt down the wire.
