You can often increase a camera's sensitivity to IR (night-vision or something close to it) by removing the IR filter in front of the sensor. Lots of DIYs on the Intertubes.

Its doesn't have the stealth look but unless your looking for it almost everybody (~98%) doesn't seem to notice its there
