And, a neutral opinion from someone without a vested interest in replacing said Bose would carry more weight. I still stand by the facts that the same guys making Pioneer/Kenwood/JVC/Eclipse/Jensen/Roadmaster, all make the head units for Bose also. It's a very small world in the car audio makers, they all use the same factories and chipsets and DVD loaders.
BTW the same few factories also make ALL the speakers and amplifiers for ALL of the famous brand names also. How do I know all of this? I visit the factories in deep dark mainland China and talk to the engineers and see the "Famous" brand radios lying right next to the "Roadmasters" in the same factory hehe. |

What's worse, most of the time the aftermarket systems I would install or have install, would end up sounding just a tad better that the OEM's. I have the BOSE w/Navi right now... Its ok |

I still stick with the fact that why spend that much for a system that sounds awful, has limited compatibility, no expansion, and usually something fails within 3 years. Aftermarket provides so many befits it's not even funny.

Hmmm
I have no idea what Bose setup is in my Z. Frankly, it disturbed me when I saw Nissan put in Bose stuff. (It has Sat radio, a CD changer, whatever) I have the leather seats and the auto dimming/Homelink mirror stuff so I guess that dictates what Bose setup I have.
I have no real idea if it is 'good enough' since road noise is so bad. I would never consider tearing my car apart to install aftermarket stuff until I made a decent attempt beforehand at quieting the car down. I have reasonably serious coin in a system at home yet have no desire, nor expectations of decent audio in my Z, so I get that plenty of people are happy with Bose in their cars. OTOH, my rationale for 'joe average' being of the opinion that Bose is high end has a lot to do with them being 'fed the Bose koolaid' so they are less apt to speak up if they think it sucks when they audition the stuff. I know people with those crappy Sound Cube home theatre systems that think they are great, but more often than not it came down to spousal satisfaction. Small and unobtrusive is best, honey; it's expensive so it must be good. No need to listen to it critically nor bother listening to anything else. 104 |

That said, in years past where there was actually a separate Bose audio upgrade (w/ 6 CD changer) available for 370z trims without the tech package (e.g. Nismo), it was pretty darn pointless. Now that the tech package is available in all trim levels, they phased that audio upgrade out and it is largely a moot point - nobody pays an extra ~$4K for the Bose speakers. |

People that have had bose systems before can always chime into this. Other factors include if your planing on upgrading something in the stereo and if you feel the bose will suffice.

I dont know if what i say counts,
Down here, We have Basic Options (Without the nav) and Full Options (With the nav and rear spoiler etc) I dont really like that empty compartment in the middle, I dont even know the price difference between the Basic VS Full but ill go ahead and say it was worth it. Reason Being the Stock headunit just looks right. Aftermarket headunits (atleast the ones i have seen) dont look like they belong there and they mostly always look shitty Once they are switched on. MOSTLY As far as sound quality goes, I dont really care much, Its a small car with just so much interior space and the sound quality is awesome to me. Just my opinion EDIT : Also Like someone mentioned the features in the said Bose package, I Dont have any of the below mentioned options Radio Data System (RDS) SiriusXM Satellite Radio HomeLink® Transceiver And i still say its worth it

Well, if they do it on the Altima (it's listed in their brochure if you ever read it), I kind of figured they would also do it on something nicer like the 370z. But I suppose anything's possible, I mean there's not much sense investing any time/money into something like the Z, which severely lacks any sort of sound insulation.
