Default LOC for aftermarket sub

Looking to get a little more detail on LOC usage for an aftermarket amp/sub.

I've read that we need to use a LOC if you have a Bose system...and it is best to tap into the unfiltered low level voltage signal...however some have talked about LOCs being designed for high level signal (post amp), not LL voltage signal. Is this true? Will the LOC still work with the LL voltage signal? Will volume control work correctly as well?

Also, where are you all tapping for the amp remote? Also, where did you tap for the 12v source needed for the LOC?

Finally, are there any suggestions for a inexpensive LOC? This will be just operating a sub...so I don't need an extremely expensive one.

Thanks!
