NISMO speaker question
Sorry if this has been posted before.
I've got a 2009 NISMO and the kindest way to describe the audio is "crap." Will my Rockford Fosgate 5x7 speakers fit in the door panels? From what I gather it's a 6.5" stock unit, but I can't be sure. I'd like nothing better than to replace that junk with some of the good stuff I had in the Mustang I just destroyed. I've also got a Soundstream PCA 4.520 amp that I'm selling to a friend since there's literally no room in this car to mount it... |
No not without adapters, (not worth it) I recommend getting a set of component speakers and replace your tweeters in the dash as well for better sound. The polk db 6.5's are a great bang for the buck replacement.

I was afraid of that. Thanks. Sucks, because I love these speakers...
|
I think you would love their components even more.

I'm not sure I follow; wouldn't he just need to fashion an adaptor for the doors? 6x9s fit the doors, why would 5x7s need cutting (apologies if a stupid question).

What I've got are aluminum cone coaxials with a 0.75" tweeter. I had 4, but 2 of them were ruined when my Mustang's doors got literally torn apart in a crash. I rescued the others from the wreckage. |

Just go the easy route and get the coaxial if you new to audio install or want the easy way out. Disconnect the two "tweeter" up front and everything will sound good and balanced.

If it helps with your advice, my goal is clarity; not thumping bass or ridiculous volume. |

Tweeters are pointed at your head, not your ankles. |

So best bet is to go with 4 new speakers; 6.5 on the bottom and tweeters in the dash... got it.
I'm assuming the speakers themselves are by far the weakest link in the whole system and replacing them should make a night and day difference. Correct? |
