I too want to upgrade my sound system (I have nav system) What other options do we have, to get around the bose sound processor. I want the lil lady to talk to me while im driving. I have amps, speakers, and subs already from a previous build I did and I am thinking of just bringing them over to the Z.

How would you bypass the bose system I thought it was integrated in with the navigation? Also there is no where for a single din to go in the center dash area below the nav screen its all one seamless piece.

As I said in the other page. YOU CAN NOT INTEGRATE THE NAV INTO THE NEW AFTERMARKET SETUP. It will sort of be a paper weight after the new one is installed. Metra makes the dash kit that should fit in the nav one. Worse comes to worse you can buy the base model dash part and but the metra kit and have it fit in there. You can pretty much use the stuff you have now but you will have to put a new head unit in. Or you can use a Jl clean sweep AND a MTX Re-Q for the sub channel and than they would remove what the bose has done and than feed the single to the new amps.

How about a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 or a JL audio Clean sweep. By using eiter one of those he can use the stock head unit and still upgrade the speakers and will also be able to add amps. This is te way I went in my FX.

LOL beat you to the JL clean sweep and all. The only problem is that when you tune the JL or any of them and the bose changes something the tuning COULD be thrown off. But I am not sure though. Yes you can use the JL clean sweep and all.

Sorry did not look at it there was no pics that I was. I will look again. But ya the JL thing can be done but I am trying to make it as easy as possible for people to do. Nothing against the JL thing I have used it before. Just when no one rely knows the diagram of the bose yet it gets complex. I made up a diagram but have not tested it yet.

Just looked at your build again. You have to be a member to see the pics and all.

could you just use the RE-Q5 after the bose signal processor and it do the same thing as the JL and RE-Q?

Basiacally you find all the wires that come out of the bose amp or if you are feeling crazy the ones that go into the bose amp. Also the ones for the sub as well. You cut them and run each channel which have 2 wires too the jl clean sweep. Than you run power to the cleansweap or re-q. Than run your rca wires from there to the new amps. Than from there you run NEW wires to all your new speakers. Than you insert the tuning cd and it tunes the system getting rid of what the bose system does to it. That is about it. It will take the normal person about 2 days to do all this. The first time I did one took me 2 days plus another day for dynamat but that was in a accord.

Or you can just take all the bose stuff out and start with a new head unit and all. Either way will cost about the same the jl thing might be a few 100 bucks more.

Hey Matt

Do you know of a link to the specs of the Bose? I'd like to read up on the circuitry that clips the signal!

Well you need to look around, I found out about ti by listening to the systems in the cars and at the bose store. I leave there laughing every time. The link below is when they started using the tech, back in 96 or 97 that is when bose took a dive in quality.

Here you go for a start
