My 370z car audio to be installed list. Need feedback!
All
For the first time ever owning a car, I am putting in a new stereo system. 2009 370z with Bose. I don't know much about these systems and how car audio works. I am an audiophile for home theatre stuff and am very familiar with that. So I figured I would write down my list and see what you all think. Here is what I am thinking about getting 1. Pioneer z150bh nav (am familiar, 3rd unit I have bought. Love them) 2. Focal 165 krx2 speakers for doors and tweeters 3. Stealth box (think comes with 2 10s) 4. JL xd 600/1 amp And that's it I think. This package is pretty expensive. What do you guys think? Will this be a pretty serious upgrade from stock bose? |
No amp for your front stage? You'll be disappointed running those focals off the head unit

A JL 500/3 or alpine pdx-v9 would take care of running them all. I agree your going to want an amp for them.

What's the difference in 500 600? Power? Is there a 600 / 3? |

They are telling me I need jl hd 900/5 JL Audio HD Series HD900/5 5-channel car amplifier — 100 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms + 500 watts RMS x 1 at Crutchfield.com What do you think? That Is expensive. |
I'm running a HD900. BiAmped for fronts to Focal ps165f3. The XD will provide plenty of power.

Look at the kenwood xr900-5 amp to power both the focals and the subs..ive heard it its awesome! Its got a built in 600 watt single channel for your subs...then bridge the 4 channels to two two channels and power your focals.

There are literally hundreds of different amps you could chose for this application. Do some homework. you will need at least 3 channels, or a 4 channel that will allow you to bridge to make 3. |
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I ended up going with focal 165 krx Jl hd 900/5 amp (someone stated earlier that you could biamp the fronts, I plan to do that) Stealth box with 2 10s Pioneer nav z150 (didn't want to wait or spend the extra for the avic 8000). Is there anything else I need to look at? Any sound deadening material? Oh question, will installing the stealth box take out the roller shade in the back? |
I have spent more on audio than I have on performance mods. That's a first! This stuff adds up!

Just got everything installed Friday. Sounds amazing! Very happy. Had to turn down the stealthbox sub considerably for my listening taste. Sounds great!

Sounds like a sweet system! As for sound damping, yes adding some to your doors and hatch area would be a good thing.
