Drop the Bass! Not my bank account..

Well, the title may be a bit of an exaggeration.. I am not looking to kill small woodland creatures via vibration..

I recently replaced my 1 dim with a 2 dim touchscreen Pioneer AVH-X2600BT. I am loving the radio, as if it were a woman, and am really happy with the quality of the sound.

Now, the radio gets loud.. however here presents my 1st world problem.. It wants bass.. and it wants It bad. I had two 5'' speakers installed behind the seats where there were holes for speakers.. but no speakers :wtf2:

This really cleans up the sound. Sometimes, I do want to play the radio at an obnoxious volume and share my listening preference with the vehicles sitting at the light next to me.. however.. that really is not possible right now. I have adjusted the EQ so that I get the maximum amount of bass with the max volume.. before the speakers make the dreaded Flop sound... No boom boom boom boom.. but flop flop flop flop...

So I need sub(s). I have been out of the audiophile game for 10 years.. ah back in the day when I had a trunk and said "ill just throw some 12's in there in a cheap box with my surfboard amp".. My Z like yours.. doesn't really have a trunk... however there seems to be an obnoxious amount of room where the spare tire sits.(and under the mat for all intensive purposes).

I have looked at some of the installs, and as beautiful as they look.. they frighten me. I am not a DIY guy. I am looking to get it done for me at a reasonable price.. which leads me to the questions..

I was thinking of going with 500 w amp with 8'' sub. OR, possibly two 8'' subs. However .. the couple of places I have had throw me an estimate is over 700 bucks for one 8'' alpine.. custom box and an alpine amp OR

about 850 bucks for two 8'' subs, an appropriate amp, and a custom fit behind the silver Z bar.. which involves cutting the Z trunkmat and removing some of that Styrofoam that is under the matt.

Really, for someone who just wants complete sound, what would you go with.. how much did you spend? What did you use?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

(and remember I am not one of these guys who can personally rip out my trunk and run wires from Zimbabwe and back).

There are a few pre-loaded boxes out there that will fit behind drivers seat on the parcel shelf, some even amplified. search the threads.....they're in there somewhere....http://www.amazon.com/Soundstream-US...pr_product_top Just one example.

This is fun and is what I did. I got a deal on a bunch of subs (now have kickers in, but have also run Polks) so, I went with the Zenclosure that holds two since I had more subs than the Russian Navy.

I love bass in a variety of music (contemporary urban, funk, classical, rock) and though it is definitely overkill (on 10" or 12" is more than enough) it makes me giggle and my wife's boobies jiggle and it is easy to dial back when appropriate.

Box was $130 and I got a 900 watt (rms) amp on eBay for $125. I have a speaker cover made from speaker fabric and when the hatch is closed, you cannot tell that there are subs in the back unless you are really attentive.

You can also have fun mounting a dial-a-funk boom-boom bass knob.

You can also have some fiberglass boxes made to fit there as well. I have made some for customers to fit 6.5's behind their seats.

Bigs fiberglass pods, although very nice, and well made, are not gonna give you the Bass your looking for.

And I love H20's dial a funk boom boom knob! lol

If you like sound balanced fore and aft (versus front stage only) these are a good way to do it. I've taken a bit less elegant approach to my rear speakers, but really need to get big to make something for me. Maybe something infused with glitter.

:rofl2: They can be made bigger but if the OP is looking for serious bass than he is going to need to give up room in the trunk.

really looking for balance .. a nice thump.... something one 10'' would do, or two 8''... problem is I would have to get it installed by a shop.. and 700+ dollars for a sub/amp/install seems like a bunch to me.

Actually they would be louder facing the back and you could get away with one.

I agree it could be louder bouncing off the glass, but what I have now is way louder and way more bass than I could dream of listening too.

It's ALOT!

I can't even turn it more than half way up.......
It does look badass aswell and I still have all my trunk room, which I need!
