Default HELP 2013 nismo with Bose aftermarket sirus xm install

Hello all
I have the Bose package installed on my 2013 nismo.
I recently put an aftermarket HD radio, nav unit in my car. I had sirus xm from the factory and my new radio has it aswell. Right now I have my sirus xm antenna ran to the back of the car but it gets horrible signal. Anyone got a recommendation on where I can put it to get better signal (and not look horrible) or better yet a patch cable that I can buy to be able to use my factory sirus xm antenna. I would prefer to be able to use my factory antenna if I can get a patch cable for it.

I installed a kenwood DNX890HD

Thanks

Is it on a metal surface or just laying somewhere? Most people put them on a small adhesive metal plate on top of the dash. Some put it behind the head unit but I do not recommend it.

It has to have a clear view of the sky so behind the head unit would not work at all. It is sitting on a small pad centered under my license plate on the bumper. So it can see the sky, but I guess not well enough. :-/

My 2009 XM antenna is terrible, just driving under trees is enough to cause drop outs. I'm in Orlando and SXM no longer broadcasts a terrestrial signal here and boy does it show, the SXM satellite signal is terrible here in a moving vehicle, YMMV.
The retail antenna may work better than the OE, I would audition them side by side on the roof of the car and determine which is better. Or, do you remember if your other Factory SAT receiver was better?
Yeah I would put it on the roof of the car temporarily next to the current SAT antenna and see if it's better.

PS: All SXM/Sirius/XM antennas use +5V on the center wire and this powers the active antenna. I don't know the exact type of connector on the factory, I do know that the aftermarket antennas use a coax type cable with a plastic housing clip around it.
