New headunit question!?!?!?

Hello i am interested in buying a new touch
screen navigation head unit. Sick of the original
base model radio. ANYWAYS im interested in
the pioneer AVIC 8000NEX and im wondering
if you can still change the volume on the steering
wheel?

Yes you can, you will need a aswc in order to keep your steering wheel controls.

JaredHeckman 01-14-2014 01:44 PM

What is an aswc?

Or you can order a PAC-SWI controller too which will accomplish the same things and end result you are looking for. @Big , when installing this, it talks about the 15 wire in the harness going straight to ground. Upon examination of my OEM Base harness, 15 pin is empty, do i need to provide my own wire and then ground it as outlined...?

Which one are you doing the pac or the metra?

I lost my buttons. Really they only were useful using the radio. The only control that you can really use with the iPod is sound adjustment. I couldn't justify spending $50+ for volume. I just use my right hand.

The steering control modules mentioned control source, volume, and seek. Not just volume buddy.

I just added an aftermarket nav unit to my car along with a lot of other audio upgrades.....
I was able to keep all of my steering wheel controls except for the two Bluetooth buttons for answering and hanging up. Too my knowledge, those are the only buttons you can't keep on the new 370s.......

So what you're telling me is that this controller will allow me to change songs on my ipod just as it lets me change my radio stations with the seek function?

yah, the pac's can be had like $35-40 these days...

i use the pac-ps (pioneer/sony) old version since my steering wheel doesn't have dedicated buttons for BT anyway. :) been on my car for 5yrs, no issue. :p already swapped headunits twice on both cars. plug and play goodness since i run only pioneers right now. (two 4500BT and one 2500BT)..
