I'm going to go ahead and leave this here because who knows, someone might be able to figure it out:

About a year ago I installed a Pioneer HU, alpine amp (under passenger seat), sub (in hatch) and replaced the kickers/tweeters in both doors.

After the install, my wireless key fob doesn't work sometimes (but not all). No rhyme or reason to when it works but it comes and goes. No one can figure out the problem. I'm resigned to the fact that I may never be able to fix it but that just seems awful for such a dumb problem.

Default Nn04b

Hi everyone,

I am using the Scosche NN04b harness to wire up an Alpine 940bt and an ASWC. Looking at the Scosche harness the pins do not match up with what the factory harness states. The NN04b has pin 16 as (a red wire) 12v switch when the factory harness says pin 7 is the +12v switch and pin 16 is for the radio, which I will use for the ASWC. Will it hurt anything if I move the red wire on the NN04b from pin 16 to pin 7? Also is it ok to add wires to pins 8 and 9 so the dimmer will work?

NVM I had a slow moment. I did not realize I had the NN04B upside down when counting the pins. pin 19 should be on my right.

Wiring harness confusion!!

I've put more than 20 hrs into the install and trying to figure out what the hell went wrong but this is one of the symptoms I've never been able to figure out.

Fun fact: the fob detection will come and go. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't and you'll have no idea why. Man if you figure this out, I will buy you a beer.

No I think it's towards the front near the gearbox. Small flat square thing.

I wonder if I overlooked that plug. Could be a bad connection.

If you start getting intermittent problems, let me know please.

My Z came with the jvc aftermarket touchscreen radio. It's a cool little add on but I noticed that none of the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel work. Cruise control is fine but everything else is useless. Also, everyone I call when I use the Bluetooth to make calls tells me it sounds horrible. Could it be due to the jvc? Thanks in advance

Yes and yes.

You need a steering wheel interface module like so:
Pac SWI Jack Steering Wheel Control Interface for JVC Alpine Clarion Kenwood | eBay

As for the BT quality, it may just be road noise. Where is your mic mounted?

It's by the steering wheel.

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust on the car? I can no longer use bluetooth in the car because to quote a coworker, "it sounds like motherf*cking NASCAR jesus christ just call me back later"

If that's the problem, you're kinda boned. If it's not - try relocating the mic mount to the a pillar on the driver's side close to head-level. That's where mine is and it worked like a charm (before the exhaust/HFCs went on)

So I can pull it out and it's attached to a wire long enough to extend to where you said? I really appreciate all of your help.

Btw can I have that part for the steering wheel installed at like best buy?

Best buy usually won't touch aftermarket installs unless you buy the whole setup from them. You'll have to find a custom audio shop if you don't want to do it yourself.

I'm not sure how the JVC head unit works but I'd be surprised if the wire weren't already long enough to do it and just hidden away somewhere.
