Depends alot on your taste in music/ and your budget. The digital series are good amps for the price....The PRS are top-notch for Sound Quality. There are many others available unless your sticking with pioneer.
Door speakers are 6 1/2" and one sub or two is a preference. You only need one to produce music accurately.

I would personally recommend Alpine Amps. May be a little more pricey but quality is top notch. They rate the RMS and test each amp, which some have been 50-100 more watts than spec'd. And fora a sub, a single 10 or 12 will be nice, depending on how much thump and what music you listen to.

Just my opinion but I'm partial to alpine speakers and amps. You can get a set of Alpine SPR-60C components on amazon for around $150. I like 12" subs for the lower range, 10" subs are a little too punchy for me so I have a 12" Alpine R 4ohm dvc sub for $140 on amazon. Then get a Alpine PDX-V9 amp to run the speakers at 110w and the sub at 500w-600w. Perfect for anything less than an SQ setup imo.

I think I'm alone here, but I very much like how 6x9s sound in our cars.

I always do a sub; did two 12s in both my Zs, but one good 10" is probably more than enough for most tastes.

I have an X4500BT, which isn't too different from your HU; I like it a great deal.

I would like to do 6x9s, bigaudio makes some speaker pods that fit in the little cubby holes behind the seats that are pretty awesome.

6x9s will fit in the doors. Pods can be made to accommodate 6x9s if you'd rather have them behind the seats.

While there is a lot of argument about oval versus round speakers and sound quality (some true, some hype), I will say that it is important to base your choices on what you are trying to do (I like a pretty warm sound I can't get easily from 6.5s); often the quality differences between 6x9s and 6.5s are products of build quality and specs and not shape or size. Kraco and other manufacturers of cheap speakers have really hurt the perception of 6x9s. Anyway, first and foremost is the quality of the speaker (whatever the size and shape). I like to keep costs down as best as possible, but always try to hunt for a good value and not just a low price.

I put some JBLs in the doors a couple of weeks ago that I got for 70% off. These were on sale because the are being rebranded; I'll take that kind of deal any day. I don't run the coaxial tweeters; I have a crossover and run a separate tweeter in the dash. I have a similar setup behind the seats with drivers mounted on the little shelf and tweeters in the holes in the B-pillar (crossover as well). I'd really like BAF to work up some nice custom pods one day. Actually, I'd like to drive up and have him tweak my system as well; fine tuning can make a HUGE difference in a system and, at the end of the day, I'm a biologist with a box full of audio that I'm installing and tuning with a butter knife.

Oh, and to finish off, here comes the trunk of funk:

i've installed a bunch of SQ setups with the PDX-V9. I actually own one myself. Trust me these babies have come a LONGGGG way to be this good.

You should be able to get one for $450 shipped and authorized. Pm me if you need any help.

A few years back some of the top MECA people at the world finals all used PDX amps so i wouldn't be shy

Dude that's not a bad deal at all! And yeah sometimes I do miss the warmer sound of larger speakers, but my alpine components keep my happy 99% of the time, once I get the V9 it will be perfect.

I also sometimes wonder if I should have gotten 2 12's but then I remember that I have plenty of bass with all the bass settings turned down to -10 lol.

I have the Pioneer AVH-5500 HU, stock fronts (I'll be swapping them out for Kicker comps as soon as I figure out which tier I wanna go with), and 2x Kicker S10L7s in the trunk powered by a Kicker KX1200.1 amp.

Honestly, because of the 2x subs and the powerof the system, I never really cranked them because to get them into their comfort zone, the stock fronts would distort. So for me, 2x 10s is a bit of overkill. I am debating switching for another Zenclosures box with 1x 10".

Since everyone is saying go Alpine what are your opinions on:
Alpine IVE-W535HD 6.1"
Alpine SPR-60C 6.5" Car Audio Component System (Pair)
I am getting the Alpine PDX-V9, as someone suggested.

I have the 535 headunit. It's nice and does what I need it to (HD radio). After a while, I realized that I don't use the buttons on the side (also used as a removable 'key' as a security feature). I think a full touch screen unit would look nicer, IMO.

Only pic of it I could find at the moment:

So you would suggest (Alpine INE-W927HD 7" Touchscreen) for $300 more?
