Adding rear speakers
Easy question for everyone. Are there any pictures showing the interior plastic/panels removal to install aftermarket rear speakers on base model? I'm fairly experienced in car audio upgrades/work, just a bit nervous about breaking inserts/pins on my new Z.

Pictures are coming in the next few days of my install and I am having rear speakers added. Note! if you have the base model like I do, you will have to run speaker wire back there.
I am running 300Hz/6db bass blockers to these speakers and running them off of the rear channels of my head unit. They are just for rear fill so very little power is needed. I wouldn't chance doing it yourself. I didn't and I know how to do this stuff but I have a tendancy to break plastic trim so I decided to leave it to the pros. |
every car that i have done an install on has never broken a clip. You just have to be gentle when your pulling on the panels and it it seems stuck, find out the reason why instead of just yanking some more. Plus a panel popper tool really helps.

I second the plastic panel removal tool go to your local auto part store and ask for one they will know what you are talking about. As a side note I am still against rear speakers but you are not me.

+1 on the panel tool. Have fun with the install

skip the reaar speakers and spend more on your front stage. a properly set up system doesnt need rear speakers :)

Honestly in top end cars there are no rear speakers because SQ "sound quality" is setup for optimal performance. I own a civic and I have taken the rear speakers out so that way I have no rear fill as they call it. If you listen to it for a few days you will get use to it and it will definitely sound better than 4 channels. Think of it this way artist record there music in 2 channel format so the optimum way to listen to it is threw 2 channels. My setup is going to be my fronts and a rear sub that's all. After thinking about it and listening to it it sounds way better. So in a nut shell do not get rear speakers or worry about it. |
