Buy a 2012 Valentine for my Z?
Some guy selling a 2012 Valentine 1 radar detector on Craigslist for $300 cash. I understand a new one is more expensive. Also, I wonder if It will help?
I have driven some 5000 miles and done without getting a ticket though came close a couple of times. I mostly ensure there is a rabbit ahead, watch brake lights ahead, be wary of bridges and overpasses when on highway. Would you buy one? |
Lol i read this wrong i thought he was gonna buy a hers and his, LOL but you meant radar. and yea thats a good buy. I would honestly but i havent gotten any tickets yet except for no front plates. and i go like 135-145 on the free way or express when theres no traffic.

Good price. I drove 250 miles for mine and that was $325.

Don't most cops use laser now? So pretty much once the detector goes off you're pretty much already tagged?
|
^^ Yep
|
I need to get a laser jammer.

:rofl2:
Radar detectors arent needed when you drive like a fckin OG :icon17: But then again the maneuvers I see some peeps pull on the highway and city streets I gotta laugh out loud, hilarious stuff people do to get peoples attention. :roflpuke2: |

I would buy it. I have one and don't drive without it.

And I'm just over here driving the speed limit or slower since these roads suck in Cali using this app https://www.waze.com/ which is surprisingly pretty accurate...:wtf2:

I've detected normal K and Ka radar regularly, and in 6 months, have only been painted with laser once. That's not including mysterious false alarms from doors, car security, or business security systems. Rather, actual, "Oh, there he is," alarms. In fact, the one time the laser sound popped up on my Passport it kinda scared me since I'd never heard it before.
Of note, latest Car & Driver mag has a several page comparison between V1 and Passport. And I cannot read the title of this thread properly. I keep thinking it's a little early for February... |

It depends on whatever the local departments choose to buy. I know Ka is primary for radar, but some smaller agencies still use K. Laser is not as preferred as it requires the emitter to be stationary.

I've used the V1 for years on my sport bike, as well as in my car.
It's paid for itself many times over. I like the fact that the V1 is upgradable when new radar tech becomes available at Valentine, and I like the directional arrows that tell me where the radar hit is coming from. It also has laser detection* Granted, if you're the only car on the road and there's a cop with laser, you're pretty much toast…but, if there are others on the road, your V1 will at least let you know when it gets a laser hit so you know to be on your toes. |
