Need some in dash audio help.
So I got the 2014 370z without the media package (Nav / upgraded speakers etc). I would really like to do some type of in dash system with DVD playback and that has Sirius XM. I already have a really nice Garmin GPS so the navigation is not necessary. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I despise the sound quality in the 370Z... I know nothing when it comes to audio. What should I get to improve the quality? Speakers? Amp? If so what kind? |
im running a pioneer doubledin 4500BT myself and nuvi with the ecoRoute obd2 gauges.
check crutchfield for ones that have xm built-in. i dont sat-radio so dont know if mine does or not. lol |
Does anyone know any In Dash HD quality receivers for under $750?

I also have been quite happy with the pioneer X4500BT. They have a new line up for the app radio series, all of which can be had for under $750. |

Lots of people say get 6.5" speakers, but you also have the option of 6x9s. Depending on what you want to do and how loud you want it, you could get some really efficient speakers and a well powered HU and not need an amp. Not the route I'd go, but an option. I went a little nutty and put 6x9s in the doors, tweeters on the dash, 6.5 components in the back (tweeters in the b pillar) two 12" subs, and a couple of amps in front of the spare tire. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/13/jypehuzy.jpg |
the pioneers with BHS at the end of the model number has the HD radio built-in.
i personally do not listen to HD radio as it cuts off completely when signal is weak vs with like FM you get minor noise but you can still comprehend wat you're listening to. |
Most of the suggestions you will find are like the ones listed above. I have personally just finished the install in my 370z and it's the following components. I decided I want a full complete sound with clean crisp mids and highs, and just enough thump to complete the ensemble. AS for HU, I would seriously look at any of the Pioneer Units, even some of the Kenwood Excelon units as well. Crutchfield is a great resource for this.
Here is what I have and where / what I paid - Head Unit : Model year July 2011 - Pioneer AVIC X930BT 6.1" DVD/CD NAV/BT/SIRIUS/XM/DIVX HU Pawn Shop near Downtown Dallas - 165.00$ Out the door with all harnesses, GPS antenna, USB Plug/Harness wire, BT Microphone - NO DAMAGE Speakers Doors : Focal ISC 165 6.5 - Component Mid/Tweeter System (Amp-able or PREAmp Capable) - Retail Paid Car Toys in DFW - 243.00$ with adapters AMPS - Xtant 4.4 - 4 Channel Amp to power the doors and any additional components for the front system - Craigslist 125.00$ Alpine MRX-M50 Class D - Mono AMP - 300W RMS x 1 - SonicElectronix - 179.99$ Subwoofer - Q-Fabrications Sealed box - Kicker L5 Subwoofer. I did all the install myself as I have my MECP and do this on the weekends for a shop in DFW on the side. Everything was soldered at the HU connections and then quick tapped if needed for adjustments in regards to bypasses ;-). Amps Were installed in the VOID under the cross member FOAM. Wires were run up the Center console and along the passenger footwell for power up thru the grommet to the Engine Bay. If you would like or have any questions, please feel free to msg me. |
^^ This is good advice and is more an SQ build than my thumpalicious budget build.

What is your budget? What are you looking to get from your new system as far as audio quality? |
What exactly am I looking for? Something in dash touch screen in which I can upload songs too etc. I am looking to spend around $750-800 for that.
I am also looking at new speakers etc (Anything that will improve the sound quality) That is second priority though and a different budget :) |

If you don't need nav, you shouldn't need to spend anywhere near $750. |
Yeah, I don't need a Nav. I just would like it to play my music, and to have some type of screen... I know nothing about Audio like I said. I just haven't been able to find anything decent after Google'ing.
