streaming pandora music

what are the pros and cons of streaming pandora into my 370z vs, streamin sirius xm through my cell phone into my Z?:tiphat:

kenchan 12-06-2013 11:04 AM

i suppose you need your smartphone to stream pandora via bt... xm, it's already hooked up to the car so wont drain your phone's battery.

kenchan 12-06-2013 11:06 AM

i think iheartradio is also becoming popular as pandora... (?)

Troyz 12-06-2013 11:07 AM

XM

Cons: Sirius XM Requires a monthly fee

kenchan 12-06-2013 11:11 AM

^^ true that.

Slacker Radio Plus takes the win for me!

They have free, Plus, and Premium subscription options.

EDIT: Slacker free sub seems to have a considerably lesser amount of commercials vs. Pandora.

Im not a big fan of sirius/xm. Came with my Sequoia, some three month free nonsense, and i use Slacker through my phone 98% of the time.

Hope that helps! :tiphat:

With Pandora you may hit patches of poor reception which will impact your experience.

I use Spotify—allows me to save music on my phone or stream. It also allows me to control my music, which is a big deal to me.

You cant listen to Shade 45 on Pandora. No Rude Jude and Lord Sear

ElVee 12-06-2013 03:27 PM

Depending on what you listen to, Sirius may be a bit limiting. For instance if you listen to only the EDM/BPM stations, you're going to hear plenty of repeated content since they only have 2 (3 if you include chill) stations and one of those stations (BPM) repeats heavily.

If you dig Classical, you likely will not hear repeats and could be quite happy with the 2 Sirius stations.

Update: Do want to add that I love my own music collection and thus have an ipod hooked up to the Z (my cars are the only place/reasons I buy into ipod/apple anything). But I use Sirius as a way to listen to new stuff. I have periods of my life where I just listened to what I had, and subsequently missed swaths of new music. I now try to maintain a balance and make sure I still hear new stuff. I fill the better part of a 160GB ipod, so even still I hear "new" things from my collection on a regular basis.

Of note, bluetooth compression will never sound as good.

I use spotify , its a premium (9 bucks month) but it has no commercials and I use it a lot.

spottily better then xm because you can create your own playlists or use the pre made up ones. and its social if you have friends using it you can grab there playlist too

ElVee 12-06-2013 04:07 PM

I will have to give Spotify a check. I wanted to, but I don't wish to use Facebook. But I see they no longer require this...

right, and i heard yesterday that they are talking of having a mobile version free but it will have adds, so it would be more like pandora / i heart radio

ElVee 12-06-2013 04:31 PM

If it matters, I actually do actively use TuneIn Radio on my phone. It's free and let's me stream in to some favored stations in good quality.

I am with you man spotify takes the cake over them all IMO. I have iheart, pandora, and the others downloaded but I always use spotify.

Is Spotify much different than Mog?

ezpz112 12-07-2013 05:16 PM

Pandora's radio is way better than Spotify, but I find all the features of Spotify premium superior. Being able to save songs for offline play, no ads, and being able to use it on the computer as well is pretty legit. They offer a free month trial. Give it a try.

Dwv2005 12-08-2013 09:44 PM

how do you make your music stream? I have the 40th anni and i can't seem to make it stream.

ezpz112 12-08-2013 11:15 PM

I stream through bluetooth, its just the metadata doesn't display. After searching through Spotify forums, it seems the app doesn't send that info over, compared to the phone's music player.

Dwv2005 12-09-2013 05:55 AM

Yea but when I Hit the aux button to play Bluetooth it wants me to plug my phone in with an aux cable, won't let me just stream music through bluetooth

I have to disagree IMO. Pandora after an hour of listening starts playing the same songs over and over. spotify after a few dislikes will not play the same song.
