Benefit to double or single DIN?
I'm going to replace the HU in my non-Bose Z. I initially though I'd go double DIN since that's the size of the opening but thought I'd ask if there's a benefit to a double DIN if I don't plan on installing a radio with GPS? I'm hoping to find a HU that will have a similar color to the rest of the lights in the car but the more I think about it I may be giving up a great HU b/c it has blue lights...IDK.
Main features I want: - BT HF Calling - BT audio streaming - CD player - HD Radio would be nice - SiriusXM compatible - RDS Long term I plan to have a nice 2.1 setup speaker wise.

You can add a backup camera if you like, and if you are an iPhone user, you can mirror a bunch of apps. Even if you don't use the advanced app mode, it is still a relative bargain. I have the X4500BT - similar to the 5500, but lacks HD radio (I don't listen to radio apart from National Pinko Radio and HD isn't useful for that). |

Nice setup!
Is it possible to rewire the backup camera from the mirror to the radio? Surely it is. I can't get used to a third of my mirror being taken up by video. I've got my eye on a Kenwood Excelon 770 something at the moment. I've had Excelon stuff in the past and I'm a big fan. I've noticed all the app control options on the new radios for iPhone and Android but I have neither. Sent from my Lumia 1020 using Tapatalk

To answer the poster who asked about reverse mirror with the hu, yes you can. All you have to do is tap the video feed at the rear if you like( since you have to tap there orange for signal) or you can tap at the bcm or base of the mirror. My only issue right now and reason i have not done it is i have not found out what the color of the wire is sending e feed to the mirror.

That info may be in the FSM. In any case, the FSM is pretty handy to have around. See link in my sig.

I ordered a Kenwood Excelon DDX-790 receiver from Crutchfield. I've had good luck buying from them before. I was going to buy at my local shop (Rogers Stereo) where on the outside they had a sign stating they beat internet pricing. Their price was $70 higher on just the radio than Crutchfield was with wiring harness, dash kit, backup camera and a couple other items. They came down to the same price and I was going to purchase until I noticed the "All Sales Final" sign and said…"keep it". I just refuse to do business with companies who have that "we'll give you store credit" mentality.

I'll be glad to do a little write up. Might even take some pictures.
