Got Kenwood DNX6140 Installed
First off, big thanks to AK370 for his write up and impressions/review. Thanks to Matt (bigaudiofanat) for some helpful information.
I wanted to have Matt fly down but a good friend of mine referred me to someone local he trusted. Thanks anyway Matt for for being willing to fly down. BTW I don't have pictures of the PAC-switch that was also installed. I went ahead and updated this thread: http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...trol-poll.html Well Here are the pics: Before http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01647.jpg Head Unit http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01648.jpg Bluetooth Mic on Driver's Side A-Pillar http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01650.jpg Works flawlessly and like AK370 mentioned: crystal clear reception. My buddy didn't even know I was using the mic over the phone. IPOD adapter cable coming through Center armrest console http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01661.jpg Some ghetto dremmeling here: I'll probably have this slightly re-done with a rubber grommet to keep the IPOD cable from potentially falling back through the hole. Rear view camera above fog light (Got the idea from TZGQ2M http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/8...installed.html) http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01657.jpg One note on my camera: I'm thinking about getting one that doesn't have the lines "visual aids to guage distance". Unfortunately in all my excitement, I forgot to take AK370's advice and check for best possible placement for this specific camera. So for now the lines are just in the way rather than being useful: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01653.jpg Besides that, everything works perfectly. Once again for anyone else interested in a similar setup with the same camera: look at where you want your camera aligned before you choose to install it. Personally I like where the camera is placed and ironically one of the camera's "helpful" features is something I can do without. I also went ahead and updated my startup splash screen to see how it works. I used DIGItonium's custom pic for now (thanks Dig for the idea!) and It needs a little adjusting. http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/8...s-install.html http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...x/DSC01659.jpg The image is slightly smaller than the screen so it leaves gaps on either side. For my head unit the pictures need to be 480 x 240 and I'm assuming DIGItonium's are different due to larger screen on head unit? :ugh2: DIG your setup is awesome. My camera sucks but your image I used definitely looks better in person than the pic I uploaded :p Well in any case, it works. Now I just need to make my own :icon17: |
do u have a step by step install instruction on the PAC stering control? thanks.
|
Looks good man, turned out nice I wish I could of came but it is cool that it turned out nice. On a side note ya that is not a good place for the camera for those lines to help with distance.
|
Did you take any pis of the camera mounting and drillng of the peep hole?
|
Man, I just realized that I didnt intall the trim piece that goes around the stereo! lol.
After I was done putting everything back together, I went to install the trim piece and it didnt fit, so I figured that it was not needed/used in our cars, but I guess I was supposed to install it before I secured it to the bracket that screws on to the car, huh"? |
The trim piece will not fit around the stero do not worry about it. Even if you were to try to install it before the dash being put back together it would not fit. That is made for cars like the honda civic and all that the trim dose not go around the head unit.

Wiring Harness
Nice work, looks good. I have a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD coming in soon, and I haven't taken apart the dash yet. For the wiring harness, did you just buy a Scosche NN04B? I went on their website, and this is the only harness they recommend. Did you also need an adaptor for the antenna? I believe the model is Scosche NAA2B, or is the OEM adapter already the correct one?
Here's the link for the adapter Scosche Industries |
Yes you need that and your antenna adapter as well.
