Need Help!
I just installed the carkitcompany.com rear camera kit and bypass kit. It was working great. I was testing the camera in the front seat with the power wires connected by alligator clips (big mistake). Basically what happened was the positive and negative wires touched and the nav screen went black. I assumed I had blown a fuse but none were blown. The radio, nav screen, climate controls, and power mirrors are not working. I tested for power at the mirror/audio fuse and it was not getting any power at all with the car on. I have taken out the rear camera kit and the bypass kit and still nothing works. I have checked the fuses under the hood and all are ok as well. I am wondering if there are any other fuses to check or maybe if the nav screen is blown if I replace it will I have power at the fuse box again. Or did I fry a wire somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sounding good, my friend. fixing the nav screen is not gonna solve your problem, and magically restore power. Go over your fuses again, and see if there is a fusible link in there for it as well. I remember seeing tech sheets posted in here somewhere that showed wiring diagrams, that may help you find your problem.

You may have fried the head unit. assuming this is an aftermarket head unit check the fuse on the back of the radio usually located behind the wiring harness plug.

1) Blown fuse(s) - you say you checked them but if you are not familiar with fuses you may have overlooked the blown fuse(s). 2) Blown fusible link - same as #1 3) Burnt out wire - not likely but look for dark places in the wire insulation. Fuse/link locations and specs are in the FSM. Checking fuses with a voltmeter or test light is much more accurate than eyeballing it.

Link to the FSM download page in my sig. You should be able to figure out which fuse/FL is bad and get its location in the FSM. If you have problems figuring out, let us know. Thank goodness you have a voltmeter. It will make troubleshooting sooooo much easier. Edit: Since you didn't know where the FLs were, you may not know that there is a large fuse block next to the battery. It can be intimidating to get to the first time but if I can do it anybody can. Search for one of the pull-the-SLU-fuse DIYs for how to get to the fuse block. There's a link to a thread with many of the SLU-related posts in my sig, also. It may be easier to find one of the DIYs from there.
