give me suggestions...stupid music!!
I decided to get a new deck. I was trying to keep the car looking original but that is not going to work. I have been suffering for the last 2 weeks. I basically have my cell phone hooked directly into my amps and playing music form my phone. I can't adjust anything sound wise on my stupid phone so music sound like poopie butt. At least I don't have that damned feedback noise anymore.
What I'm looking for in a deck. -double din since the slot fit one. -bluetooth for when I do a PAD mod -volume knob (really want this, but if there is something that is way better for similar price.. well.. I will have to consider it.) -decent if not good music processing -usb input so i don't have to burn CDs or anything of the kind -$200-$300 with $50 cushion if it's really that good and worth it -nav would be nice but not needed.. It wound be nice if you guys can make me a list. All i need is the brand name and model ## so tat i may google it to research it. Thanks a lot |
You will not find a nav head unit for 300 so you might want to either up your price tag or scratch that. Here are a few of my choices.
Alpine CDE-W235BT CD/MP3 Car Receiver w/ Parrot Bluetooth & USB JVC KW-R900BT In-Dash Car Stereo Receiver w/ Bluetooth & Pandora Kenwood DPX500BT CD/MP3/WMA Bluetooth & Pandora Ready Car Stereo |
kool, thanks. The nav thing was just an extra if I could get it. My phone's google map does fine. I might actually lower my budget to under $250... lol..
Ohh snapper.. I just googled your city Bridgeton NJ. I was where the heck is that. Next to Vineland. I use to live in Atlantic City next to the Trop. The Quarter was the HOTNESS 10 years ago. |
those are ugly.. lol.. i did stumble across the ApRadio headunits.. Very kool idea. That's basically the Pad mod. The only thing is that I have a cheap phone so I can't connect to it. Any reviews on this sucker?

The Kenwood DDX470 is 350.00 on sale at Crutchfield, maybe on your higher side. Ask Matt what he thinks!

i would just use the steering control vs a volume knob?
check out the pioneer 2500BT and 4500BT. they are very cheap these days as they are going to be phased out in a few months at CES. :D |
that DDX470 is nice. It has everything I was looking for. I'm going to try and find it for cheap.
The volume know it not needed but I just like it. It's very convenient that's all. Keep the suggestions coming. I'm going ot keep researching and trying to find deals. |
I installed a ddx470 they are great units for the price.

Audio sounds like crap through a bluetooth connection, don't even bother. Use the USB or hardwire it, BT makes already lossy mp3s sound even worse.

for the normal joe listening to pandora through BT wihle driving, it sounds fine.
if you're listening to pandora through an ancient FM transmitter, then yah, sounds like crap. :icon17: |
Ick. I am a bit of a stereo junkie, and I can't stand how Pandora sounds on mine over BT. As much as I put into my system, it kills me to hear it sound like FM radio. I NEVER listen to the radio, lol.
I got the Pioneer 8500 unit and am pretty happy with it. I actually like the 4200 in my Tahoe better in terms of ergonomics, but I've been using it for several years and am 100% familiar with all its functions. Maybe in 6 months or a year I'll feel the same about the 8500. I'll be adding the nav option soon. I absolutely love love LOVE the SD card slot. I have like 400 albums on my card and never take it out, never change discs, nothing. It's the bomb. Always been a fan of Pioneer's headunits and have been using them almost exclusively for nearly 20 years. Never cared for much of anyone else's. Just my $0.02. |

The crappy sound has nothing to do with an FM transmitter. |
