Default options for upgrading to aftermarket stereo from factory bose + oem nav

hey all,

i've searched and can't seem to find any info on how to go about upgrading my factory bose system with oem nav. i plan on replacing everything speakers, amp, and sub but i need to know what my options are.

option 1: replace oem nav with aftermarket double din w/ nav

is this possible? what do i need to do this? what functions would i lose if i went this route. also this would leave me with a non functioning radio underneath. correct?

option 2: replace factory radio with single din or double din
crutchfield won't let me view double din units after selecting my vehicle so im guessing having two screens isn't possible? can someone verify this? if i went either single or double would my factory navi still function normally? what functions would i lose? steering wheel controls, bluetooth voice ect?

You get the LOC, and then ditch the Bose sub and amp.

thx that thread helped a lot. now its on to deciding on the set up.

for the LOC i would need 1 channel for each speaker/tweeter correct? im planning to ditch the rears and just get a component set for the front. so a 5 channel LOC would be adequate for this set up.

for the door speakers all i would really need is a 2-way right? since im getting my highs from the tweets and lows from the sub.

also, chuck mentioned to ditch the bose amp but from reading the thread there were problems with engine whine/noise when connecting the LOC before the amp. or was that only with the MTX unit?

No you would need 1 channel for each set of speakers (woofer + tweeter) you could get away with a 2 channel if your just upgrading the speakers however most people choose the Audio Control LCi6 for the multi channel output as well as the sub output.

LC2i is good enough. It has a main output and a sub output with AccuBass goodness. LC6i is overkill and does not have AccuBass tech.

why do you need summing when you already have full range signal from bose?

The lc2i will do summing but thats not an issue for you if you tap in before the amplifier anyway. It will be a full range signal

I vaguely recall a thread where one of our members worked for audio control, and said there was a switch, or a jumper of some sort inside the unit you can activate to sum the inputs........If I remember correctly. It was a while ago.

they're not for summing, they are for line-level input.
